Fog lights

Featured Replies

Ladies & Gentlemen, I see a lot of Octavia's driving around without main lights (i.e. no side, dip or main beam) but with fog lights blazing away, can anyone tell me how this is achieved (I've fiddled about with the switch without avail)? I have a 61 regisetered Octavia 1.4tsi in Elegance trim.

Thanks for any help you can offer,

regards,

StratfordBoy

The reason you see them on without sidelights, headlights is because they are known as Driving lights, and not fogs !

Fogs are supposed to only be used in fog, (as the name says) but driving lights come on with the ignition, but legally they are supposed to go out when you put the headlights on (A lot don't though)

Yours I suspect is a little old for these driving lights, but you can get them and retro fit them.

"Daytime running lights (sometimes referred to as DRLs or daylight running lamps) are low-wattage bulbs that are fitted to a car to improve visibility during daylight hours. As of 7th February 2011* DRLs have become a mandatory fitting to all new type approved passenger vehicles (except trailers).

Welcome to the forum.

Is it not the DRL's that are seeing on? (Daylight Running Lights) Rather than Fog Lights.

Hello StratfordBoyand welcome along

61 reg Octavia would have DRL's fitted, so possibly they've been turned off in Maxidot.

hi, have a look in the fuse box under the steering wheel (if you have a fuse box there that is ) because i just bought a vrs and the drl,s were off so asked a salesman to put them on ,but being a skoda salesman he didnt know how to  so spoke to mechanic -eventually

anyway in the little rectangle box under sreering wheel there is an on/off switch for drl,s

on and off with Maxi Dot ( if fitted ) Elegance trim should have maxi dot

I think
