Suspension Advice

Featured Replies

I've just got back from my first "long haul" weekend with the new caravan being pulled by the vRS.

One thing I have noticed is the suspension was quite "soggy" but other than that, everything was fine.

Now the car has just about covered 60000 miles and is just over 3 years old.

I am wondering if things under the car are starting to get a little tired due to the mileage/age, and I do think the car does body roll more than it used to when getting a little toasty around corners.

What the best direction for firming the car up a bit?

I'm not interested in lowering it, just tightening up the ride but I dont want a bone shaker either.

Any advice please.........

Spring spacers. Basicaly hard lumps of plastic that take out a coil heigh in the spring, therefore stiffening the remainder up.

IIRC you should be able to get them at most trailer places. You will I think need the unsprung measurement, ie jack the car up till a rear is off the ground. Measure mid to mid and base to top of one of the coils in the spring.

I've spoken to a chap who ran 4 in his Range Rover, he said it was like driving on rails...4 is excessive, I tried to get 2 for my 4x4, but ended up getting a set of coilovers.

They do not cost the earth, so worth a try?
