Thats the thing it's gradual degrading so you don't notice.

It all looked good in the figures too, except that log I posted, that was my only clue really. Fordfan's post kinda pushed my into it as well, Cheers dude !!

there has to be a more reliable design though eh?

Happy ending :cocktail:

the more they break the more people need to buy, = more profit ??

Hence 'Citroen'

Unofficially, Bosch say their MAFs are past their best at 4 years/100km.

You can usually measure some degradation at 60k Miles and by 80k you can notice the difference at high speed/high load if you replace it.

I should be heading for my third by now then !!!

Most people only realise that they had a problem with the MAF after it's been changed.

In the early stages, you only tend to lose sustained performance at WOT (e.g. accelerating up a long hill) and not many owners regularly do that.

I recommend that owners disconnect the MAF once a year and see if the performance improves.

wouldnt work on my diesel, if i disconnect maf i lose all boost and it crawls around at half power

Then you have a problem with the ECU or another sensor. When everything is working correctly, there should only be a small difference between MAF connected and MAF disconnected performance.

The car will seem to run OK but the MPG will drop.

well thats what it does, and ive done it on a polo estate my uncle has when trying to diagnose something, same alh engine same result. Runs smooth and normal, just no discernable boost and alot less power because of this.

seem to remember someone else noting the same on here.

Otherwise my car runs superbly, very good on fuel, smooth powerful (as it can be at 90ps) no eml no codes. Think its just the way they are
