Needing smart phone help!

Featured Replies

Hi all

Iv been using a Samsung Galaxy s2 for the past year and it has just started to go wrong, iv sent it back to Samsung for their inspection, has anyone ever dealt with them before for phones? I can just see them keeping the phone for 2 weeks, send it back claiming theres nothing wrong (iv had a few phones do this, mainly Nokia's, ended up buying a new phone)

Also for my back up phone im using an LG optimus 2x, i have not used this phone is ages so i has not been updated, ever i dont think and it is painfully slow and the battery life is about 8 seconds, how do i update it if i can?

When my s2 died I went to my local o2 shop (my network provider) and had it back in under a week

Sent from my Galaxy S2 not a Crapple!

My SGS2 went wrong after a mis-flash of ICS (4.0.3) and it was crashing loads of times freezing etc, in the end it got sent back and reset/repaired and returned within a week (excellent) the only thing that really pi$$ed me off was they installed a bog standard battery in it, instead if the high capacity one that was in it when it was sent, which cost me £30 to replace!

I would stick with Android as it doesn't have any of the enforced restrictions that an Iphone does. It can swap files including MP3 & Video files, documents etc natively, Most Android phones have radio as well. You don't get radio on the Iphone & can't do BT file sending with an Iphone, you may find you have problems connecting to BT car kits as well.

I like the Iphone for its simplicity & clarity, however I am not going to buy one because of Apple's restrictive practices when it comes to using BT to send & receive files & lack of radio.

I was lucky I remembered to put the stock battery back in lol. Think its standard practice as most aftermarket batteries arn't approved by Samsung

I know the iPhone is not for everybody, but having Apple control what's put on it via iTunes means there is a HUGH degree of security, and that you are MUCH less likely to come across an 'errant' app.

With the advent of cloud services the lack of Bluetooth file transfer is more easily circumvented.

You CAN buy apps that wan stream radio stations to the iPhone, but they do have an adverse effect on battery life, so this is only recommended if you're near a powerpoint and have a charger in your pocket. ;)

Tbh its not really andriod i dont get along with its the phone operating it, it seems they just cannot perform the task in hand and end up either crashing or rebooting, battery life is stupid (i did not know of this battery upgrade  )

But what i did find interesting, iphone have been making out that this voice control thing of theirs is better then anyone else's, Wrong! Me and the other other half put it to the test, both repeated the phrase ''Text Craig Hello'' mine did it first time with no problem, his iphone just would not understand at all but there are certain things that dont bother me.

Radio, i dont think iv ever listened to it on my phone. Voice control, you just look like an idiot and it does not work when driving. Iv heard before about iphones being restrictive but i dont think this will affect me

I would try and put a good word in for Windows phone here as I think it's a great os, but seeing as the new version (8) will be released soon and the current devices can not be upgraded (cheers MS) I wouldn't bother for a min.

I really do like it as an os though, I've got an HTC HD7 with it and had no issues at all. SWMBO has a Nokia Lumia 700 and has no issues at all, in fact she prefers it to her iPhone 3gs she had previously!

No, that is Android down to a T, it can crash and reboot a lot. Though its much improved these days and the latest version(Jelly Bean) is very good. :)

iPhones "just work" more often than Android imo.

I too have a Windows phone, LG Optimus E900, cracking phone and i have just read an article that staes that Windows 7.5 phones will be getting updates tothe start screen of Windows 8 after the initial release.

"The new Start screen is so useful and emblematic of what Windows Phone is about that we want everybody to enjoy it. So we’ll be delivering it to existing phones as a software update sometime after Window Phone 8 is released. Let me repeat: If you currently own a Windows Phone 7.5 handset, Microsoft is planning to release an update with the new Windows Phone 8 Start screen. We’re calling it “Windows Phone 7.8.”

Some of you have been wondering, “Will we also get Windows Phone 8 as an update?” The answer, unfortunately, is no.

Windows Phone 8 is a generation shift in technology, which means that it will not run on existing hardware. BUT we care deeply about our existing customers and want to keep their phones fresh, so we’re providing the new Start screen in this new update."

I would second this! I have a iphone 4s for work and have swapped the sim over to my Nokia Lumia 800 (a much easier phone to get along wth) I also have a sony xperia arc S as my personal phone and in my opinion they both out perform the iphone (this may just be me as I don't have any Apple products other than the enforced 4s). but there again I'm old and like to be different!
