2010 Octavia - 'Hover' Noise at 100kph

Featured Replies

This is a strange one and I don't know how to describe it.

Ever since about six months ago I'd be driving along at above 50 - 60mph when I'd hear a 'hover' like noise while driving. It would last for about ten seconds and go away only to return if I moved the steering wheel in any direction.

It sounds like a really loud hovering noise. Like wind being pushed through a gap or a really loud version of when someone blows through a comb with paper. Does anyone know what this is? It's not high pitched but loud enough.

Wind noise on a dodgy seal somewhere. There was a thread recently about this with a link to a YouTube video which captures the noise

Also: check the engine under-tray.

Thanks for the replies guys. Would either job be a costly fix? Drove 50 miles today...howled for a good ten minutes at least.

This is the exact noise I'm getting. I've been told it may be the door seals and as my car's out of warranty by 3 months I'll have to fork out for it.

Any idea how much this is going to cost me?
