Clutch help

Featured Replies

Hi i boughy my octavia a few weeks ago of a member on here (furry ???) its black with some green touches anyway i bought it with a slipping clutch.

I was told this was down to a new slave cylinder being put on and it not being bled propperly.

So we got it home and my mechanic freind stripped it for me to find a leaking slave and a worn out clutch with a blue flywheel and pressure plate surfaces.

After a quickn look through the history i see its had a g60 flywheel and vr6 clutch conversion its also had 2 clutches within 2 years. So bought a fast road clutch kit for a vr6 and a new slave my mate refitted bled off the slave and bang snapped the slave in two.

first thoughts were dodgy slave or not lined up properly so after removal and refit 3 times now and another slave the clutch peddal is sollid . Inm being told the pressure plate is too highly sprung for it its only a fast road kit i spoke to the manufactures and they have never hjeard anything like it.

So to ask the qudestions

1 will a g60/vr6 conversion ware out quicker than normal as 2 within 2 years ?

2 has anyone heard of this problem with clutch not being able to be depressed?

3what to do now standard vr6 clutch / new flywheel etc?

Thanks for your time to read this and I greatly appretiate any help Will

A slave cylinder that isnt bled properly wouldn't cause clutch to slip, it would struggle to disengage ! Never heard of the pedal going hard, if slave bleed nut is undone does the pedal move? If not pedal/master cylinder problem. Cant see why it wouldnt push even the toughest plate, it would just be heavy.

thats what i thought just heavy but the pedal one bled is apparently solid

Is there a locking pin or mech on a new slave to prote t shaft from extending pre fitting i wonder, as it would still bleed

Could also be release bearing wasn't seated properly and has jammed on the gearbox shaft, was it replaced? Another poss is the shaft of the slave cylinder has gone out too far and cant reseat.

new bearing fitted too no locking pin and even tried the orinal one in there .

is evrything right using g60 flywheel vr6 clutch plate vr6 pressure plate and vr6 release bearing? is all that correct?

i would think so. Unless your clutch fork is broken/seized or slipped out of seating. if you take slave cylinder out, can you wiggle the clutch fork through the hole with finger?

Sounds daft but clutch plates in right way isnt it

Important, but cant see it affecting pressure plate compression

it will if its jamming forks on clutch or holding the release bearing back, did it at work once in my younger days had a solid pedal with no travel
