Just had "20 days until service" message appear...

Featured Replies

The car has only done 7.8k miles and had 5ltrs of oil in that time, surely the oil isn't that fooked, it's almost had an oil transfusion?!? (I'm assuming that it only monitors oil condition)

Is this a record?? ;)

Dumbass question, I assume this is because it's NOT on fixed interval as it should be?? :(

fixed 10k or a year..

my service reminder always comes in early.... a tech said to me ignore it... something to do with the distance being set in KM instead of miles...

aaah....so it will be a year old on 9th Sept...QED 20 days till service! Cheers Sharkrider

Is it on fixed (10k/annual) or interval (when the car feels like it)?

If interval, your car will determine when it needs to go in, based on your driving pattern, oil use etc.

Annual oil & filter change is a 'good thing' even if you're doing low mileage. Saves build-up of mayonnaise looking emulsion inside the filler cap and rest of engine.

Not expensive and an easy DIY job to keep your pride and joy in good health! Use genuine filter and quality oil to keep warranty intact.

Of course its a good thing.

You can certainly do your home Oil & Filter change, do it between services if you wish.

but i am afraid that will not be keeping your warranty.

You will need a VAT Registered Garage to be doing that, & still using original parts.

The heat many vRS's get run at are enough to have chips with the mayonnaise.

(luckily moisture in a vRS is not a problem even with sort trips, well it is not a 'Forum' scare/worry as yet)

I've yet to see it confirmed by any skoda tech or dealer that this car can go on variable service... everything ive ever read or heard is 10k or 1 year. the ECU may be capable of that setting.... but skoda say its fixed service.

lol.. I take that previous statement back after seeing techies post in the thread george linked ;)

my fabia greenline is now on variable, as is daughters monte as both had Q16 code in book

Yep - mine says 15k or 650+ days till next (1st) service...about another 3 months the amount i'm doing at the moment!
