O/S/F Window regulator

Featured Replies

Anyone needed this replacing?? Mine seems to have decided it wants a break from me and has put up a fight this morning...

Any ideas on prices and how long it would take a garage to change etc?

Thanks

please do a search on window regulator. There have been 100's of posts covering this. I will however clarify you do get the pressed metal plate part of the regulator from euro car parts

Yes the plate is part of the regulator.

You can get repair kits on eBay though so you don't have to go to the expense of replacing the whole lot.

Pain of a job to do if your carrier is riveted on though.

Drill the rivets out, unplug the loom from the a-post and thread the loom back into the dook remove the bolts holding the lock, remove the exterior handle and lock barrel, remove the steel plate holding the mechanism and the lock all as one, otherwise you will really struggle. Should take 20 mins to get out, 20 mins back in, no more than an hour labour.

Removing the handle and lock mechanism is just adding to the hassle that it already is, the most awkward bit is unplugging the loom from lock motor other than that it's quite simple(ish) lol

Removing the lock makes it easier, it's designed to be installed/removed as one piece, that's why the metal plate has plastic bits that fit into the lock. If you try and remove the plate without the lock you can damage the lock where the silver button inside the car connects to it. Removing the lock and handle is 2 splined bolts and 2 torx, 2 minutes to undo, 2 minutes to do up.
