About to order #2...

Featured Replies

My Yeti will hit 3 years old at the end of March, and work requires me to have a car under 3 years old (so probably left it a bit late!). I was planning on an XF next, but a change in household income and my non-abating fondness for #1 have pushed me to replacing with another almost the same.

Thus I am on the brink of ordering a new CR170 4x4 Elegance, probably Rosso Brunello (I have Storm Blue at the mo), black interior (Gobi on the current). Mostly the same options, but adding the heated windscreen, extra speakers and electric seat (which I don't really want, but have to have for the dimming side mirrors which I think I'd miss otherwise). Also the load-thru passenger seat as I've started buying long bits of timber.

I did have the variable boot floor on the list, but it looks like it might be more sensible to go for the spare wheel again (even though I've never used it!) - any thoughts or advice?

The electric seat is well worth it!

We didn't have it on the first Yeti, but do now.

The extra adjustment is very handy.

Bear in mind a dark colour with sunset glass and a black interior will look like a van... ;)

:D

Part of me thinks I should have Gobi again - I think it'd look nice with the dark red. Or Regency Green so it looks a bit like a little Army jeep, but I'd want black wheels with that and that's too much faffing about for me.

white looks good with black bits. My wife has got a new golf in candy white and it looks very smart indeed. Check out somewhere on here for Iain's white unofficial urban yeti too - very nice car

White is not for me.

Mines Aqua Blue (chosen by SWMBO) but if I were to get another red is rather nice. Plus the saving on a non mettalic colour would more-or-less pay for the electric seats

What I didn't mention before is we actually have two and they are both red.

My wife had a red one and wanted the same the second time round.

I wanted a different colour to her, but really liked the red so that was that! :giggle:

My Mum chose the Aqua Blue and I have to say I had concerns. But... once I saw it it's very nice indeed.

In dim light it's almost grey but it becomes a very nice pale blue in the sun.

I am personally of the opinion that lighter colours suit the Yeti better.

They highlight the wrap around look of the front and rear screens as well as the fact it has a rugged look with a non-body colour rear bumper.

They just suit the styling of the car better IMO.

With the darker colours the styling, which sets the Yeti apart from more boring cars, is hidden in the mass of dark.

My personal opinion of course. But worth considering.

Agree red is very nice if your not keen on white.

Most options mentioned would get my vote; no experience of the speaker upgrade and I rarely have the radio on anyway. Elec seat now wishing I had, as my seat, for me anyway has turned uncomfortable, despite having no issues until about 3 or 4 months back; think it might be the lack of seat base angle adjustment :wonder:

Front park sensors was not originally on my list but after driving a car with them, they were added and have proved useful, particularly for tight street parking; park assist is going just that bit to far into automation for me mind.

Likewise not used the spare so far and fingers crossed but I'm more content on a long night run knowing it's there.

I think red is err an ... evergreen colour, that is it's does not seem to be affected by the trends that much either in solid or metalic. Older reds used to 'blush' over a few short years but the modern paint seems to be a lot better. Oddly red cars seem to look cleaner for longer than some other colours. I would have gone for red with a second choice of black, mine was a used car in black so I guess I need to clean it more often  White would have been my third choice.

We recently swapped our 170 TDI Elegance in Storm blue/Gobi leather ,for a Greenline Elegance in Rosso Brunello/Gobi leather.

The only extra we fitted was wood effect dash trim instead of silver.

The rosso looks lovely in the sunshine and has had lots of favourable comments .

Rare colour on a Yeti as well.

I wouldn't have chosen a black interior though, as the rosso is quite a dark shade.

Each to his own, I went for the black leather interior with Rosso Brunello as I prefer the look of the black over the Gobi.

How dark is the Rosso then? It's hard to judge in pictures. Anyone seen it next to the Storm Blue, fer instance?

Yes - in posts #98 & #99 http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/144075-yeti-forum-members-picture-thread/page__st__90#entry1899008 in the forum members pictures thread :giggle:

Out in the wild I've not seen them together, but my impression is the Storm Blue is the slightly darker, though both are transformed in sunshine, as #99 gives an idea. Post #114 http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/144075-yeti-forum-members-picture-thread/page__st__90#entry1922169 has a Rosso Brunello in the sun.

I prefer the mid range colours like the Muscovado and Tangerine (sadly discontinued) as they seem to do well for highlighting the shape & curves well even when it's cloudy - see mine in post #663 http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/144075-yeti-forum-members-picture-thread/page__st__660#entry2828497

I love my park assist and use it a lot. I don't think I have lost my fairly reasonable manual parking skills (yet) but I could easily become dependent on it. It always does a much better job than I could on first attempt. It will choose a small space that I would dismiss as no go to the extent that getting out again might be a tad difficult. Not an essential extra but if you were to go for front sensors (very useful) then the additional cost of park assist was well worth it for me. Superb entertainment value whe you haven't told your passenger about it prior to being used.

Very clever. ;)

Ta for the link though - in 114 it does look very nice, so I'll go for that. There's a window to change my mind anyways, though that'd require me to make a second decision so seems unlikely!

It's done. I've been given a guaranteed minimum trade-in on the current one (assuming I don't set it on fire or similar) and a delivery date of end of March or the promise of a courtesy car to tide me over.

Now to thrash the crap out of Mr Growly, as I have just decided to name my current Yeti.

Something to look forward to in the Spring!

Might you send your order info to Vegit8 for the Waiting List? http://www.briskoda....2-waiting-list/

Indeed I shall. :)
