Nokian WRA3

Featured Replies

My front Dunlop SP01 front tyres need replacing at 19k (rears are good) and I am considering the Nokian WRA3 (£112) or the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons (£121). Any opinions on which is best for the UK climate over the next 9 months as I will probably change the car next May.

I've bought WR A3s for my winter tyres but won't be fitting them until late October, so can't yet comment on how good they'd be. I don't think I'd want to run them this early in the year. Others here have found the 4Seasons to work well, and if you're not planning on keeping the car, then I'd go for the all season ones. I like the look of the Nokian Z G2 as summer tyre replacements for the Dunlops, but I don't expect to be changing them for several years (10-11K a year with 4-5K of that on winters and only 2K done so far).

Agree would go 4 season; however a word of caution, only having 'grippy' winter capable tyres at one end, particularly the front, could lead to a spin if braking sharply in icy conditions.

If you are planning on selling the car and not intending having matching tyres all round, I would stick with summers on the front; maybe something like a wet weather specialist such as the Uniroyal RainSport 2

My thoughts on it anyway,

TP

Thanks for the advice. Probably will go 4seasons (we had them on the front of our Kia Soul last winter (summers rear) and it was OK although it has ESP). It would be nice if the new EU tyre label was more comprehensive and included cold weather/snow performance (and dry performance) then at least we could all make more informed choices before spending our hard earned cash!
