A local dealer has a Skoda showroom and a Seat showroom next door to each other.It must be interesting for them to see which car the customer will go for,citygo or Mii. At the moment they have pre reg 12 Seat mii S for sale at £7400.Crazy price seeing as they are no longer classed as new.A drop of only £450!! If you brought a new one back to them after a week they would offer you £6000 for it and then put the usual £1500 mark up on it.Not to mention they have earned their dealer bonus by reg the car in the first place.

I was tempted obviously for a lower price say even £7000 as in September i have to get my Smart serviced,MOT,and renew insurance and breakdown insurence,however i really want the Skoda Elegance automatic with everything on it,so i know i will not be happy with a basic Seat S without remote locking or electric windows,so i will wait till next year.

I have seen in the "aim to pay" price list in Auto Express there is no reduction on Skoda prices but VW UP prices are reduced to match the Citygo prices. That is interesting.

Are dealers moving a little on price, what have you been quoted.

Thinking of buying but don't want to be out of touch with what discounts people are already getting - actual facts would help with my own negotiations.

I would appreciate any dealer recommendations based on actual orders by members on here.

Well i went into Lookers in Manchester yesterday and you can get discounts...... i simply quoted carfile selling the basic car for just under £9,800..... i have no px to '' muddy the water '', so i simply asked if they could match that price for the basic 5 door 1.0 75 ps Elegance.... he did try to confuse the matter by talking about finance rates and how Skoda will add £500 into the deal if we order before the end of Sept ! *******s i said (or words to that effect), i told him to ignore all the finance, any px, any other items he may want to add to it and any discounts Skoda may add.... all i wanted was a price, nice and simple ! This is the best way to get a good deal, when you start adding in cars to px and money into the pot from Skoda if you buy it via their finance, you simply lose the clear picture of what you are actually buying and for how much.

I still think there is some more movement in there, and i am now thinking of getting a 13 plate in March next year so will order it around xmas time...... slow for dealers and bound to mean a good deal can be done. I think i could get the basic Elegance 75ps model for about £9600, i can then add in my extras and finance it myself through a simple loan, no PCP, no balloon payments, no smoke and mirrors , just nice and simple.

Forget Lookers anyway, bad experience of the one nearer to me.

Once bitten, never, ever again, even if they matched the best price out there.

I was coming to this conclusion myself, he did not even know what GAP insurance actually was, he said it gave you a new car years later if mine was written off.... i then explained i worked for a car leasing company for 20 years and that is was not that and then went onto explain what it actually was..... my faith was a little shaken after that !

Update :: Ordered one for the wife today, Citigo 5dr Elegance 75 Greentech. Some cars available from UK port which I believe is Grimsby/Cleethorpes ??

Standard car, no options but delivery hopefully in under 2 weeks. Dealer says they will update me tomorrow or Monday but they should receive it within 7-10 days.

Update on car. Phoned dealer yesterday as its been about 8 days. Was told car they had put marker on was now longer available :(

I asked what my options were and they said a car was showing same spec for build week 38. I opted for this and was told they would offer a goodwill gesture.

Anyone else had this happen to their order before?

I now have an order number and on Track My Skoda it shows the information as correct. (Wk38)

Yep, just found that one ! I have given them a call anyway as a new is a new car from any dealer, as long as the price is right then distance is not such an issue.

It is very difficult these days trying to have a simple question and answer with any car dealer however all dealers are not created equal. It's difficult to get a personal loan at a rate that will match the dealers subsidised rates - sometimes you can sometimes you can't. Skoda's PCP deals are quite good and if you use them as they are intended then they can make sense. Skoda's rates are quite competitive but the deal clincher for me was three years free servicing if you buy on a PCP. If you subtract the cost of the servicing from the interest then it makes that particular deal very attractive and the equivalent of a very low APR - one which couldn't be matched by a bank loan. The whole picture is worth a careful look. And again I agree that salesmen are getting too much like politicians when you want a simple answer. Sadly this is the whole retail sector - but one get one free etc etc its so damn difficult to establish the actual correct price of anything these days.

I will have a look at them but at the moment the best price is with Carfile.
