Hard Disc for MDI

Featured Replies

Hi all - I'm looking to get a hard disc for the MDi. I have seen some older posts suggesting segategoflex are a good fit. Are there any other drives that are a good fit and relatively robust.

I tried the iPhone with the MDI due to poor design of connector it kept connecting and disconnecting - so HDD seems the best for me!

Can't wait to get Bros playing ! Whoop

I use a seagate goflex, you have to be careful buying a hdd as not all seem to work with the mdi/headunit I tried another hdd I already had and it wont pick up the drive. BTW you need to have the drive formatted in FAT32 IIRC

Windows will do it mate

USB stick is cheaper if you are only putting music on it. There's a whole lota choons you can get on a 64gb for £30

I only paid £40 for my NEW 250 gig seagate goflex from amazon...

and yes, as someone else mentioned, formatt to FAT32...

also all tracks mp3 to play....

Most 2.5" portable drives should fit in the space OK. I had an old WD 120GB lying about, plus it's black so almost impossible to see from outside the car.

Just dont go above the 8000 file limit..

I've got 30-40,000 tracks on mine :p

144 gig worth! :o

it took 3 days for the car to index it all lol... (i.e 3 days of waiting with the system just loading up ect until it would play!) but now it works perfect and instantly :)

I'm looking at one of these for mine, cheap and cheerful and more than enough for me

You can buy a Sandisk one for less money from Amazon - I've had problems with cheap unbranded ones. Maplin are very expensive in my experience
