Wierd issue with stereo wiring

Featured Replies

After following a thread about getting the aerial amp powered, i had a running issue

connected the blue aerial amp wire to the blue wire from the headunit, and the car kangarood like a bitch under light throttle, undid connection and ran fine again.

Obviously i have done something wrong but still made me wonder how it made her jump around like that

blue wire from the HU should be the powered aerial cable (the open to make the old school electric aerials pop up). Duno about the amp, but one would assume it might use a blue cable to "bring it out of standby".

That said, I have never fitted an amp, so I don't know!

ha i mean the amplified aerial, reception has been rubbish since changing hu, bought a signal booster so ill see how that does

I'd try it again just to check that really was the cause...odd!

The power injector is required if you have a non factory fit HU in the car, as the stock HU provides this functionality. I wonder if your power injector kit was defective somehow.

Yep, that is right. I have mine wired into the Pioneer loom for my HU, I think it might be a yellow cable on that.
