Urgent Help Please?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I took a front shock absorber off ,yesterday to replace a broken spring. I put a new spring on,and before I refitted it to the car, noticed the shop absorber slants inside the spring? The spring is located in the 'stop' at the bottom OK,and the spring faces are parallel. On previous times when I have replaced a broken spring, on other cars, the shock absorber, was always concentric inside the spring.

I realise it might sort itself out when its refitted back on the car with the weight of the car applied.Any clever mechanics ,who can answer this for me please?

thanks

Is the spring seated in the top mount correctly?

HI,

yes,I have fitted the struct back in the car,and it looks OK,thanks for replying

Is there a chance you did not compress the spring enough and have tightened the nut on the end up to the spring, rather than as far as the nut will do up?

Hi,

thanks for your suggestion, the nut was done up fully, the reason I am sure is I forgot to refit the boot the first time!

Both struts have now been refitted with new springs, and it drives fine.
