Scout, Anyone after one...........

Featured Replies

Anything special about this one Andy, other than it is at your local dealer?

It seems to be priced about on par with the others.

Nice spec with the polished Proteus's, xenon's and LED DRL's in lieu of the front fogs options.

I'll give my right arm to swap the vRS for another Scout but can't quite stretch to £18K! :'(

Yes. I'm after one.

Bit out of my budget at 18k :giggle:

Going to have a test drive in one tomorrow hopefully its a decent one. If not i've got a pd140 L&K to have a look at next week.

Christ, that's ugly! :peek:

Your kidding right, if you are trying to say that the standard Octavia is better looking than the Scout then you are away with the fairies :giggle:

Don't like the facelift anyway cos the front end looks like any other korean car, but that's just an ugly colour! Makes it all blend into on plastic looking lump.

And two people have 'liked' my post, so i'm not the only one.

That's only because there isn't a 'don't like' button!

Yes unfortunate colour for a Scout. The Scout is the only facelift I like , but this just blends the bumpers ,they look good in silver or red and that flashy red metallic

I have to agree... one ugly car for over £18 grand

Not sure what the price has to do with how it looks.

It's a standard Octavia estate but with non-colour coded bumpers and wheel arches.

Don't you realise that some people pick that colour for precisely that reason. Other than white, the only other good contrast is silver, but I discounted them because their popularity has peaked so the residuals won't be quite as buoyant.

My personal choice would have been yellow (sod the residuals), but anthracite was the lesser of all evils. Some people even believe that a car looks better "slammed"! I prefer "stilts", and can't stand chrome or blingy DRLs. Each to their own.

Only thing I need to realise is that it's ugly with a capital DAAAAAMN!!

Arctic Green is quite nice

TBH anthracite tends to look a bit naff in the pictures I feel - which is why I had to see one in the flesh before buying.

I reckon if I was getting a scout if want one which made the non body coloured bits less of a contrast - or more likely I'd get the replaced or painted. I know it's meant to look 'rugged' but I really don't like it.....

Whilst it won't win any beauty contests, the problem is the photos not the car. Doesn't do the colour justice and the proportions are all wrong

I'm keeping my eyes open for one but need a DSG and would like a different colour :(

It's a shame you haven't yet realised that you actually own one - an Octavia!

That's what the standard 4x4 is for...

I know where there's a "Satin Grey" pre FL PD140 Scout with alcantara and 41k miles going for £13k from a dealer. No idea how realistic that price is, but maybe of interest to someone out there. Caught my eye as I drove past anyway.

On closer inspection I reckon its Anthracite, but the price stacks up with the Skoda used car locator.

Never really noticed/considered an oct 4x4.

If it came in vRS hatch flavour - kinda like some of the Audi Quattro saloons, I'd probably buy one......

I have one (same colour and year, although with silver roof rails) and think the pictures don't really do it justice, it's all about the perspective; although I'd readily agree the FL Octavia isn't the prettiest car on the road I don't think its shortcomings are limited to the Scout variant .... although I may be biased :)

Each to the own, it would be a boring place if we all liked the same thing. This is my old car (swapped for a Superb Estate 4x4) and I chose the colour so that it blended with the bumpers / arches. Perhaps not the most hansome of cars, but I really enjoyed it and only swapped because I needed something bigger, quieter and more comfy, not that the Scout was particularly bad, but the Superb is.... well it's superb.

Bottom line, if you don't like it, don't buy it.
