ECU software update

Featured Replies

My VRS is remapped and due to go into the dealers for a service soon. Has anyone with a remapped octavia had there software deleted due to the dealer performing software upgrades during servicing? I have seen this done by Audi/BMW/Mercedes and recently my dad had a software update on his Seat Ibiza whilst it was serviced - they actually told him it had been done and I confirmed by checking the software coding . Any thoughts?

Most reputable tuners would reapply the remap free of charge if your ECU has been updated by the dealer.

Yeah I think Revo would usually reflash it free. Its just the time and hassle of going back to get it done. Don't know whether to say to the dealer but it still has a year and half warranty left and I feel if I say its remapped then they will use this against anything that might go wrong whilst still within warranty period. Had a Leon Cupra R years ago and when a fault occurred with the speed sensor in the gearbox the dealer tried to blame the remap!

Remaps are usually applied free.

If they know you have a remap, they will try and blame everything on it. So deny it.

Happend to my 320d about 7 years ago it went into the main dealer for its first turbo after the remap and I wish id left it alone because Turbo Pacs charged £50 to reflash it only for the turbo to fail again, along with the fuel pump and gearbox.

Mate has his remapped, Skoda tried and failed, to not put a new rack in. Never heard or a remapped steering rack!

Yeah its trying to battle with them to prove that it is not the remap that has caused the problem! Suppose I'll just wait and see if it comes out feeling slower! Notice on the skoda website servicing section it states :
