Hellpppp...Head Unit Fascia!

Featured Replies

Hi

JUst got my new sony single din headunit through so went to fit it

All going really well until I went to fir the Autoleads fascia adaptor!!

Not a clue how this thing stays in place...any ideas??

It needs to go on cos it looks silly

The head unit came with its own surround (as they do) but I'm not sure whether they both squeeze on somehow?

It just doesnt look like theres anyhting to hold the autoleads one in place???

Help me please

Pics might come in useful if anyone has got any of their single din aftermarket units

Thanks

When I got mine I fitted the fascia with the thickest bit at the top over the cradle so the cradle holds it in place.

Then the cradle goes in as normal (with some persuasion) and you secure as normal. I can try get a pic of the finished product tomorrow if you need.

Sorry, forgot to mention I fitted just the Autoleads fascia

That's cool if u can buddy...

As long as I know that the one that came with the head unit goes over the top of it

Got no radio at the moment either but all the wires seem to be in the correct places? I got an adaptor too that connected to the original plugs

I just plugged the existing aerial cable into the new head unit... I don't need any other sort of adaptor for that too do I?

anyone help about the radio?

i'm getting the noise through the speakers but no stations?

You can get that cheaper off Amazon, but will definitely need it. I bought a full fitting kit from Amazon and it came with the aerial adapter, but you can get is here:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004TW7XL4

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003JIG0OA(here is the full kit)

Also, double check the wiring that connects into the stereo - there were some red 'capsules' (don't know proper term) that could be interchanged. I had to switch these round as the stereo forgot all settings when ignition off. So if that happens to you, just unplug one of the connector capsules and connect it to a loose one of the same colour.

If anyone knows the specific term so I don't look like much of a fool please speak up!!!

Thanks mate just ordered the booster... One last thing...

Did I really need the harness adaptor arhat I bought as well... The cd player seemed to come with something?

So now I've got... Cd player one plugged into head unit... Then the harness I bought plugged in between the standard one on the car and the one the head unit came with

Don't need auto leads facia take it back it's expensive and crap. Don't need a wiring haness adapter as wiring is iso already all you need to do is swop red and yellow wires over in loom which came with radio they should already be bullet connectors there to do this.

Them you need an aerial signal booster about a fiver on eBay.

The trim piece to fill the blank in once the radio is in is £3 from the main dealers

That's it job done

Thanks matey :)

Do you have a part number or link for the trim to fill the blank? Please

Totally agree with brian.

The autoleads facia is pants.

I brought one yesterday and ripped it out after 2 minutes. Where there are no clips on it, it leaves massive gaps between itself and the buttons (read window heater buttons etc). It also doesnt cover up the space between the radio and the storage bit under the radio, although i have et to find something that does.

You can pickup the official facia adapter from your local dealer that covers above the radio very nicecly but cant recommend anything for below yet.

The manual should say if the the red and yellow need to be swapped. The other way to test is, if when you turn the ignition off for a bit and on again, if all your saved radio stations have gone then you need to swap.

I've got a Alpine radio in mine (With Rainbow speakers, Quality is amazing :) ) and just fitted a aerial booster from halfords. Most of the time it didnt need it but it didnt takemuch to kill the signal. All seems ok so far but havnt tested properly yet. Waiting for pay day before i can fill up so trying to do less miles haha.

Update: Heres the oficial adapter
