Vissible wobble from rear wheel

Featured Replies

I picked my motorbike up and rode behind my girlfriend who was in my car, and from behind i can see my rear left wheel is wobbling, any ideas on the cause of this?

This was at low speeds. I then got in and drove it and i rolled up to a set of traffic lights at literally 5/10mph and i think i could feel very slight movement going left to right as wee wobble.

Tyre looks grand from a quick visual inspection.

You sure the wheel is tightened up properly and that it's not buckled?

As said, make sure it's fitted right before doing anything.

Jack it up, take it off, give the hub a brush with wire brush, put some copper slip on the contact area, then take care to refit it.

If that doesn't work - take it to a tyre place and get them to check the balance.

Put the spare on and see if that wobbles too.

wheel bearing about to collapse !!!

hope not

Ill give this a go after work cheers guys, hope its not a bearing, no noise but ill not rule anything out. I had a wheel come off a jeep a good few years ago while towing and the wheel overtook me!

I know it sounds silly but if the rear shocker is broken it can give off abit wobble on the wheel.

First thing i would do if your jacking the car up is hold it by the tyre at the 12 and 6 possition and push and pull each side. Feel for any vibration through the wheel, this would indicate bearing failure.

If no play is found i guess you can check the alloy is true and straighy with no buckles and check its been fitted properly.

Failing the above visually inspect the rear springs and look for any oily residue on the shocker itself.
