Safe Secure System

Featured Replies

Every time I go somewhere with my kids and jump out of the car to do a quick errand I'm having to leave a door open. I can press the button to stop the internal sensor setting the alarm off but the car locks automatically and then they are trapped inside as the 'safe secure' system kicks in. I've tried clicking the remote twice when locking the doors but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Am I doing something wrong???

Is this a FL?

Only asking, as mine doesn't auto-lock and I haven't seen the option for enabling it with VCDS. I can get it to set the alarm automatically, but not lock the doors if you leave the car unlocked after getting out.

Could it be that you've not dead locked the doors (by pressing the key twice) but have got the child locks set?

I've never known a car to automatically lock itself when you close the door?

The only one I've seen was, Clarkson with a Merc, when he walked away it locked, and when he walked back to check it was locked, it unlocked again, in true Clarkson fashion lol.

My Vrs auto locks as well, if I take my keys out and walk away it will auto lock after about a minute.

It will do it even if I press the button to switch off the alarm sensors as well.

I like it though !

The only cars I've known to auto lock when parked are those with the keyless entry system. I thought that if you were to press the internal sensor deactivate button on the B-pillar, shut your door and press the remote button twice in 1 second that the car would lock but not the dead locking system so the doors could be opened from the inside.

My vRS doesn't lock itself and I can't find a way to alter it even if I wanted to. I often leave my car unlocked in my garage with the keys in the house (don't tell my insurace company).

I can't understand why you would ever want this feature...what if you mistakenly left the keys in the car after removing them from the ignition and the car locked itself!

I like it because I know my car is always locked, I have seen people complain on here that their car is unlocked sometimes when they go out to it as they have accidentally pressed key fob in pocket.

I have never 'mistakenly' taken my keys out of ignition and 'left' them in the car and I cannot think of a situation that I would ?

Maybe if you had to quickly run back in the house for something... hmm. I can see it being annoying for people though.

Your car might not be always locked! If you press the key fob accidentally it will unlock your car no matter what, but what it also does is automatically relock after 30 secs. if a door hasn't been opened.

I still cannot see how your car locks itself automatically after shutting the door for as far as I am aware this is not a feature on the Octavia.

Have you tried locking the car the old-fashioned way using the key in the door and seeing if that has the same effect?

I.e. does it activate the deadlocks or just the basic lock that still enables the doors to be opened with 2 pulls of the handle inside?

Mine will auto lock after a minute or so if I open the car and don't open a door.

It doesn't do it after a door has been opened AFAIK.
