Springs and warranties.....

Featured Replies

After reading a few threads about lowering springs and warranty implications, has anyone actually had a dealer refuse warranty work because of after-market springs/shocks/wheels/exhaust etc fitted? I ask cos i`ve had an exhaust system fitted and have some of those loverly eibach springs to be fitted and a PD160 intake and seat sport strut brace on order..

depends if your loacal dealer is nazi-esque or nice old boys. my local is pretty good but can be totally different between places

true, i just wondered if anyone had any specific bad experiences with warranty work on a modded fabia. Sort of a worst case scenario.

Best thing to do is to ask your dealer before you do the mods. You should get a clear answer. You'll have to take the dealers word for it though ;)

When I asked mine they said strut & PD160 intake wouldn't void warranty at all, whereas a remap would, for example.

The thing to bear in mind is what Skoda UK get told is down to the discretion of your local dealer. A scenario which I believed happened to someone on here was something like local dealer says mods are fine, mods done, service manager replaced by a "by the book" service manager, mods stop being fine and warranty work refused.

At the end of the day, if the warranty means that much to you, why risk it at all? ;)

Very true - that said minimal changes tend to not impact warranty, whereas tuning the engine, brake system or suspension is a different matter :)

IIRC, Jason (devonutopia) was told by his dealership - now gone - that his car's warranty would be invalidated if he modified the suspension.
