Another clutch help

Featured Replies

Well after giving up on my "highlysprung" fast road clutch that wouldnt work I bought a new g60 flywheel genuine :028105269bx

and a luk clutch kit: 623119700 and had them fitted .

So yesterday i get a text to say my cars done so i fly over to my mechanics mates to pick the car up and........... still slipping.

So is this normal does it need bedding in or has it been missfitted? or a faulty part?

He assures me that evrything was cleaned off prior to use.

At my witts end now as owned this car for over a month without driving it more than 3 miles .

Thanks for your time.

New flywheel and clutch ofcourse you need to bed it in and if you drive hard it will glaze and be fecked

drive normally, no heavy acceleration, trying to avoid alot of slipping, but enough to bed it in aswell. Slowly over a course of a week or two it will begin to grip better. If you try to make it slip - as said it will glaze the surfaces and cause possible irreparable problems

Put it this way: new discs and pads, once new you have to stand on the brakes to get the car to stop - far beyond the pressure needed to brake under normal circumstances.

After the bedding in period normal pressure creates better stopping power. The pressure plate on the clutch has one pressure applied so cant go beyond the normal amount while bedding in. But once it has the pressure will be more than ample.

Im light on the clutch and my new kit took 3 weeks to feel right

no about 3000rpm then the revs race up to 4000rpm and i let off without the car seeming to proppel forwards im not just stamping it and seeing what happens

and clutch feels light like a normal car i suppose

I never saw a new slipping clutch. It is not normal.

Is nothing like brake pads and rotors,at brakes you control the pressing force, clutch has only one pressing force, you cannot change it.

You installed a conversion kit, those need a special attention on installation.Last week I installed a SMF conversion kit on a 1.6TDI Jetta,I allmost get fooled, the pressure plate has only one position on the flywheel, but is barely noticeable, only 2 screws will not fit perfectly, but the result is very bad,the pressure plate will not be evenly pressed on the disc, and you only can feel it by hand, the center of the pressure plate (we call it "the sun") is not even.

That's what I think your mechanic has missed.

yeah if your not giving it large on boost then you have a fitting issue !!!! take it back and get them to sort it
