Octavia - From Classic to vRS Optic +

Featured Replies

Ok, so here it goes.

My name is Andrei and I'm from Romania, but ever since 2009 I've moved to Worcester for University.

After having owned a Seat Leon 1M for 18 months, in which it did 27k, I decided I wanted a bit more space and a bit more power, as the Leon only had a 1.4 - 75bhp engine (it was sort of low&slow). So, in August 2011, I sold my Leon and I bought a 2007 1.6FSI Octavia.

Here are some spec details:

Skoda Octavia 1.6FSI - 115bhp

- 5 speed manual gearbox

- front electric windows

- 4 airbags

- electrically adjustable and heated mirrors

- Stream Mp3 player

- Aircon

Mileage: 82.000 + FSH

Although I was really pleased with the fact that I had just bought a new car, I started thinking of what could be done to make it stand out. The full vRS kit was just a dream...

Being a student meant I had to start slow.

And I did:

- Viper Can-bus alarm with roll-up window function

- LED side-lights

- vRS Front grille badge

- vRS rear badge

- LED number plate lights

- OEM interior carpets

- body colored mirror caps (the car had them black matte when I bought it)

- 6000K HID Kit

- Orange side lights (US Mode - however, only had them for 1 month, then came back to LED's)

- Skoda number plate frames

- vRS boot spoiler (OEM)

- vRS 17 inch Zenith (OEM) alloys

- vRS front bumper (OEM)

- vRS front grilles (OEM)

- vRS rear bumper (OEM)

- vRS fog lights

- other bits and pieces for the rear bumper (fittings and whatever)

Although I've mentioned the vRS kit, it has not yet been fitted, as the parts are going to be painted this week, and I'm scheduled for fitment next Monday (3rd of September). The only part that has been painted, is the boot spoiler, which I must say, looks great!

Now that I've said what I've done so far, here's my TO DO LIST:

- fit vRS Kit

- 2 tips for the exhaust

- leather steering wheel

- wire up the fog lights (as the car did not have them as standard)

- Skoda Citigo front & rear badge

And that's pretty much it... However I won't stop here. I've got even bigger plans for 2013, which includes a trip to the famous Worthersee festival in Austria.

Until then, here are some photos of my progress.

Now that I got back home for a while, I managed to fit my vRS kit and I also changed the front badge with a new one from the Skoda Citigo. Hope you guys like it.

Edit: Seems I've got a problem with uploading the photos :( I'll try again later today.

use a site like photobucket for photos and use the share links

Looks good, just be aware that if you come back into the UK with a RHD car on foreign registration plates it will attract a lot of police attention here as RHD and foreign plates is very much out of the ordinary.

Updates:

- finally got the fog lights connected

- front + rear mud flaps fitted (winter mode)

- 4 Bridgestone Blizzack Winter Tires

Also, this morning after getting in the car, I noticed a massive crack in my windscreen :( Brand new dealer windscreen will cost around 100quid (including fitment), but I'll replace it in February in order to avoid replacement during winter conditions.

On my mods list still remain:

- window tinting

- exhaust tips

- rear CITIGO Badge

- H&R -50mm coils

- leather steering wheel

Stay tuned ;)

Coming along nicely. Looks good so far :)

Would do mine but the colour isn't a VRS colour.

@Stormchaser: It really does not matter if it's not a vRS color. That's what would make it unique ;)

On-topic: I managed to meet up with Santa, and he brought some goodies :D Parts for next service next week + a brand new Citigo boot badge.
