Wynns EGR3

Featured Replies

Now i have my EGR mapped out and have the parts on order for the elephant mod, i want to clean out all the oil and soot. I have to keep my EGR as i have a BLT engine.

Could I spray this stuff into the intake for it to clean the whole intake system and perhaps the turbo and cooler pipes? or would it be best to take all my EGR off and clean it off the car?

You are best to take it off and clean.

Most of the stuff in there will be VERY stuck on and needs some physical contact to scrape/push it off and will not budge with just some cleaner on it.

Even it it did shift it there will likely be a lot in there and not great to let that loose into the engine.

I just used some petrol I had in a can and brushed it down with a toothbrush in an oil pan and it did the trick (evaporates off very quickly and leaves no residue).

Am I missing something? If your EGR is mapped out, surely you don't need to keep your EGR even with a BLT??

Ah yeh. Good point.

I thought it was just the ASZ engine that you needed to keep it for as the ASZ EGR has the ASV incorporated but the BLT has a seperate ASV (electronic one)?

I thought you have to keep it because of the ASV, I have the EGR and then there is something bolted onto that with a connector going to it at the bottom

I think that is the ASV but as you can see they can be seperated.

On the ASZ engine the EGR and the ASV are housed in the same bit of metal so physically cannot be seperated.

On my ASZ engine I have an Allard EGR delete fitted. The pipe running down to the exhaust has been removed and then a blanking plate similar shape to that pictured #6 (with no hole obviously) in it's place.

I have yet to see a BLT with a EGR delete going to the ASV
