vRS leftovers onto a Monte

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Curious to know whether anyone has used any parts from the vRS 1.4 and put them onto a monte 1.2TSI? As the parts come off my vRS the wife is looking at fitting anything possible to her monte. So far the 17's have been swapped over and today she is looking at the springs. I will be changing exhaust system shortly and she would like from the cat back retro fitted if possible...has anyone done this?

Cheers

Welcome to the forum.

Your Monte in Aus is maybe different from the ones in the UK,

Did it not already have 17's, lower springs & a OK looking backbox/tail pipe from new?

Thanks George...the monte came with 16's...now has the 17's off the vRS (must say it looks way better). Not sure about the lowered springs already as it looks about the same stance as the standard fabia...reason why we were thinking of putting the vRS springs on. There is no tailpipe showing as it drops down behind the rear diffuser out of sight.

Cheers

The vRS is heavier, so it may actually make the Monte sit higher..

Ok...so at a guess the vRS springs have a different stiffness and not height to the monte. I had the VWRacing springs fitted today and it feels and sits nicer than std.

The 16s seem to be supplied in other markets

Here in the uk we are supplied with 17in Trinity wheels painted in black (in the accessories/sales brochres they can only be supplied in silver)

If you monte like our uk one have no visable tail pipes you will need to change or modify the rear spliter. Skoda do supply a rear spliter for the monte that will hose a tail pipes.

Wether the VRS exhaust is the same bore as the monte im not sure. This will have be checked.

If its not you could either source a direct fit exhaust.

Or see skoda as they can supply exhaust tail pipe trims. These sound awful and will require you taking a hacksaw to your exhaust but they dont look bad when fitted.

Ours have 16's std but comes with bluetooth, swing/mdi audio etc as std on the monte. Just fortunate to have some parts coming off the vRS that enhance the monte for the wife. Had a quick look under the cars and it looks like from the cat back it is very similar even to the point from where the cat stops and the pipe starts. As said the only issue might be the tail pipes but if a optional diffuser can be purchased that makes the whole job easier. It seems the only mod part will be where they are joined due to different size.

Does anyone know what the colour dots on the springs are for? Matching? Parts code? Rates?

These are used to identify springs on ETKA (or EPC)

Looks great.

Very nice in that colour.

Thanks George...is there a post minimum on posting photo's? I can find anything on it...maybe I am blind. Off to get some vRS pics now!!

Cheers

Just use photo bucket and put the link to the image in using the picture button when replying ;) you aren't governed by space then

See your Monte has ESP, is that a standard feature :wonder:

Have to pay extra here for such a safety feature, unless it's DSG or a vRS

TP

^^^ and cruise control

VRS looks really good mate. Love the red lettering on the wheels. What size wheels and tyres have you got on there?
