Pairing phone, pass key?

Featured Replies

I have decided to try and pair an old phone of mine to my Superb and it gets further than my HTC Desire does but it all comes to a halt when it asks for a pass key. I am trying to pair a BlackBerry Curve and have used 0000, 0123 and 1234 but none of them work.

Has anyone any clues as to what I should enter as I'm a tad stuck. The plan should I be able to pair it is get a PAYG sim and the simply divert my HTC to the BlackBerry when driving.

Many thanks in advance of any help :-)

My Columbus requests pairing to the phone, then displays the passkey on the maxidot, not on the Columbus unit, in the format nnnn nnnn nnnn nnnn e.g. 5555 6666 7777 8888.

I enter this into the phone when prompted (and quickly, before the Bluetooth visibility time period runs out and I have to start again) and the pairing is established.

On my Galaxy S2 I just had to tell the phone to 'always accept' the access request from 'Skoda BT'. Now, when I'm in the car, the phone and the Columbus automatically pair up and it all works fine. This is under rsap not HFP. I've also set up my wife's Nokia phone too with no problems.

The phone prep in our Superb is the 'GSM III'.

Hope that helps.

Edit: While I'm thinking about it, I did try and switch to HFP mode as well the other day and that worked fine on the Galaxy S2, but I had to pair it up again from scratch to get it to switch across.

Hi thanks for the reply,

Mine has to be via Rsap as I have the old Bluetooth box under my seat being a 10 Reg car, so HFC isn't an option for me.

See this is the problem, my Maxidot doesn't come up with any code, it just says "please wait", whilst my phone asks for the Skoda Rsap Pass Code (or words to that effect). Very odd.

The car has obviously paired with phones in the past as its previous owners phones are still listed and I can't delete them. Was wondering if I did a Factory Reset it would get rid of those two phones and maybe even allow mine to connect easier by bringing up the passcode.

Any further clues as to what I should try would be gratefully received :-)

Take a look at this and this. Might be of some help, but the BB Curve seems to be problematic. For what it's worth, I also found the HTC Sensation dodgy (bluetooth connection dropping etc.). I upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy SIII a couple of months back and it works like a dream as far as bluetooth with the car goes.

My advice would be to swap out your bluetooth module for a new one from ebay. You can get them for about £70 last time I checked. Then you'll be able to use your normal phone without many problems (hopefully!).

I don't think a factory reset will remove the old phones from your module - as far as I know the profiles are stored on the module under the seat and you don't have any kind of access to this (though I could be wrong).

Thanks Declan, read through a lot of that and figured the BB may be more trouble than its worth so I headed back in to the cupboards and managed to find an old Nokia 6300. Sadly I have no charger for it but luckily I have one of those multi-battery charger devices and it charged the battery enough to make it spark into life. Stuck a really old, inactive SIM card in it and took it out to the car. It paired instantly giving a code of 4444 5555 6666 7777, entered it into the phone an within seconds it completed the pairing.

Need to head out tomorrow now and get a PAYG sim and an in car charger and my little work around will be put in to action :-)

Most of the ones we have used at work look for 1111 when pairing, usually Blackberries with either parrot kits or Bury handsfree kits.
