Clutch on stage 2 vRS

Featured Replies

I'm running stage 2 on my vRS tfsi, currently at 259bhp.

I need to replace my clutch, is the OEM up to the job, or should I get an uprated one?

Any recommendations?

I would go uprated. At stage 2 you are more than likely getting some clutch slip.

An uprated clutch will handle the torque no problem.

I went for the SACHS performance clutch and aprt from it being a lot stiffer than the OEM clutch i've had no issues including no clutch slip. I would recommend it.

Yep don't get another stock clutch the clamping pressure isn't up to it. I've got Sachs too but south bend and Helix get good reviews.

Another company to try is cg motorsport

Ive used them a few times in the past very good quality kits and well priced also

Think I paid 180 for my uprated one for my old S3

If they don't list on there site give them a bell.

As above in regards to Helix it handled my 530bhp Rs4'd S4 just fine.....

Driven a 2011, 360hp cupra r with a southbend clutch felt like OEM ever so slight rattle but nothing major.

Hi Guys,

Andy at CG Motorsport here, I am going to be careful what I write here as I am still waiting our MD coming back from holiday and approving our forum sponsorship....

Heres what I would advise -

A stage 1 (Sports) upgrade is best for cars running upto 20% increased HP and uses improved HD1 materials

A stage 2 (Kevlar) Kit is best for running cars upto 30% increased HP

A Stage 3 (Paddle) kit is best for cars running upto 40% increased HP but is only really recommended for serious race use, drifting and track days, I would not recommend this as a daily driver. As the gear change helps increase 0-60 time not your nans comfort when driving her to Tesco.

CG Motorsport sell the single mass flywheel kit and although often sold as a 'silent' kit it will usually give off a slight rattle due to the nature of the one piece flywheel.

I understand I am not allowed to post links etc at this time but more than happy to help with any clutch question in the meantime.

Thanks

Andy

I have a southbend SMF / uprated clutch. It's not bad. Bit rattly occasionally on the tdi, but you can quell that by dipping the clutch and letting it back out. The action feels OEM.
