Another Tyre question. 225 replace 205?

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I got a set of goodyear 225/55 16 V Vector 4 season and I want to use them in place of the 205/55 16 V. Michelin Energy (Down to 3mm). I only see an issue that they might rub on full lock.

But I thought I would check with you guy's. I picked them up for a steal @ £160 for 4 barely worn. (I know the source guy and no worries for condition).

Not concerned with Hi performance as I rarely go fast anymore... Just checked prices and they are not cheap! £125+ per tyre!

Thanks for looking.

Any input?

I take it your rims are OK for 225's going on?

you have them there to try on,

personally i would say they are going just too big,.

I am however often wrong & am happy to be proved wrong again.

Not thinking of the Speedo, that will probably be more accurate than now,

just see how it feels on the steering and the gears.

Well I got the tyres on and have done a few miles on them now... I have to say I'm impressed. Quieter, feel grippier especially in the wet. Measured against satnav speedo is now only out by a fraction. 70 mph = 68mph on satnav. I guess that fuel computer will be more accurate now as well.

Handles speed bumps better - and looks much better in wheel well. I would recommend this tyre. There is a small degree of small bump absorbtion as well that makes it much more pleasant. The speed hump I nearly always grounded on is now fine too! I wonder how it will go with the new suspension kit?

An overall increase in tyre diameter of 11mm I think.
