Tomtom help

Featured Replies

I'm after some guidance where to get updated maps for my tomtom, its an older unit, a tomtom one xl, I've tried the tomtom website but can only assume they've stopped making maps for older units. Are there any other sources for maps as mine are ridiculously out of date.

Cheers.

I've had the same issue with my Becker unit. Maps were provided by Navteq and they told me they wouldn't update them for that particular unit :( I did a Google and the only ones I could find were from 2009 and on a torrent site which smelled of dodgy. Hope you have better luck :)

Have tried contacting their support team? There are sites out there that may be able to help also , ahoy mi hearties, have you any gold dabloums, is your name jack sparrow ;)

Have you got TomTom Home installed together with the sat nav attached to get that answer?

Thanks for the replies, when I connect it to tomtom home I get the same result as the website, click on purchase maps, searches for available maps then says none available, I'm also not sure about the torrent sites and my ISP wont let me in to the jack sparrow site. Being an older unit it has an SD slot but i'm unsre if maps are type specific so dont want to get a newer map for a different tomtom if it wont work on mine.

Try copying the files onto a larger SD card and putting that in as it could be the lack of space that is causing the problem.

From Tom tom the map updates aren't much cheaper than a new device. £75 for mine.

I'll just make do.

We also have a One XL and I looked into updating a while back.

It gave me the option through TomTom home and it was expensive. I would also have needed an SD card in it to fit them on.

I took up an offer Sygic had for their android navigation and got European mapping for about £25.

It is much easier than using the TomTom as we have a cradle for our HTC Sensation's in the car and I get all the instructions over my car bluetooth too.

Might be something to consider. Get sat nav on your phone and sell the TomTom.
