Few questions

Featured Replies

Copied from introduce yourself cos I'm on my phone :)

Just got a few questions if anyone can help me please :)

Just asking a few questions,

Want to spend about 3k on one, maybe a bit more for a better one but.. Want mileage under 100k.

Anything to look out for? How do I check for the leaky doors?

Are all Vrs' the same spec? Seen some with non colour coded handles

Also does it have a flip key?

Only 18, got some cash saved already, looking for get one around december time cos it's Xmas and my 19th so a bit more moneys.

Insurance is reasonable! 200 quid more than the 1.4 polo I'm currently rockin, and soon I'll be travelling nearly 50 miles a day to college then work, if driven like a granny what mpg can you get? How much to fill the tank and how many miles roughly from a full tank with mixed driving?

Hoping someone can help!

Thanks in advance I shall report back later! :)

No one?

Too many questions haha.

My 06 vRS on 76k was 4.5k, trade sale. It is black so that loads a premium.

Mine didn't have colour coded handles, don't think they came standard as far as I know.

I get around 45mpg mixed driving, but it's a new car and coming from a 1.2 punto the novelty hasn't worn off yet.

Forgot a couple of points. Flip keys are standard, with boot pop button...

Insurance could be a challenge though. I pay a lot.

Filling a tank is about 50, and mixed driving about 350 miles is reasonable.

Door handles colour coded was part of a face lift along with grill slats, rear lock button delete and BLT engine i believe (06 or 56) and on SE's

I can get 65mpg if I try on a run (that's with stage 1)

as for doors, assume they leak press seller for a discount and seal yourself for a fiver

I paid 2300 for 04 plate on 86k, leaky rear doors feel for damp on carpets, im getting 50mpg with spirited driving cant fault the car wasnt expecting it to be that good after being in petrol turbos for couple of years

The grill slats & rear lock button delete was done way earlier than the 2005/6 facelfit. My mates 54 plate fabia had these.

As said all had flip keys, early ones had non cc handles, not too bad on a black one but looks awful (imo) on a red, yellow or maybe silver too. However, its cheap enough to get the sprayed.

£3k is gonna be tight to find a decent sub 100k`er I think, looking at auto trader. Might just be a case of hunting till a nice one pops up. As always though, dont buy a car purely on miles buy it on condition and history.

This is great info guys, cheers!

Should I be worried if one has 110k miles on as long as its got fsh?

Mine on an 06 plate had non coloured handles. The Octavia ones are the same, so 20 quid and they perfectly match :D.

110k with fsh is fine nothing on these engines

When I got mine 4 years ago it had about 115,000 miles on it. It was one company owner from new, every single bit of history from new. It was slightly tatty here and there but all the important bits were good. That is what i`d be looking for again personally, good history, decent condition, and the last owner having it a fair while. There are so many dogs about now that have been "DIY" modded running poor substandard parts with crap remaps, it`ll be hard to find a clean looked after one soon enough so pick carefully!
