Radiator leak on Skoda Fabia, help on how to change it please!

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am not sure if this is on the right section of the forum as I only posted once a year and a bit ago!

I have a problem with the coolant on my Skoda Fabia, 1.2l petrol 53 reg.

I have had to add coolant 3 times in the space of a month as it got under the minimum.

My partner and I looked today at the radiator and there seem to be 2 small leaks with wet patches on it on the radiator itself.

I guess I'll have to buy a new radiator...(from eurocarparts or any other recommendation? Not sure about which one I need...)

Is it do-able to do it ourselves?(my partner wants to try doing it although he has never changed one before!) Or is it quite a hard job?

Any info on how to do it would be great please (or a link to a video!)

Feel free to move the thread if not on the right section :-)

Thanks a lot!

Anyone please??

unless you KNOW it's leaking I would get a pressure test- you wouldn't be the first to spend money on something you don't need---don't ask, we've all been there, it should be straitforward if you go ahead and are happy you have sufficient tools the main thing is to get all the air out after, not always easy you will also need antifreeze and prob'ly new jubilee clips-- actual removal should be self evident if you are confident enough, the other point to concider is a garage gets it's bits trade and there isn't a lot of labour involved

Thanks, sorry only just seen your reply!

Whilst it could be the radiator, it could also be leaking from around the temperature sensor/switch. Either is possible.

I don't think your model has aircon... On other models, the various rads have to be separated after removing the front bumper.
