Speakers and Parktronic

Featured Replies

I have a preworshipped Octavia II 2007 L&K . My speakers have stopped responding :

1. Is it an issue with amplifier ?

2. How can i figure out the model of head unit ?

Parktronic just gives a long beep once reverse gear is engaged .

1. Is it the sensor or the control unit ?

2. Can it be fixed or replacement is required ?

Help

On your queries about Music System:

1.) You will need to diagnose with a VCDS to determine the exact problem

2.) Through a VCDS again, which can display the Manufacture date

On Parktronics:

1.) You will need the VCDS again. However, you can manually check for Sensors by engaging the reverse gear (with Ignition ON) and keeping your ear close to each sensor, you should hear tick-tick-tick's, if you don't hear it on any sensor, it most probably is out

2.) Yes, it can all be replaced easily.

Thanks for your response . I came to know a few things while playing with it :

1. HU model is Audience .

2. Got a scan on audio and parking but it does not show any codes ( It was not VCDS , through a neighbourhood garage ) .

I dont want to go to skoda as they will charge me a bomb , can i get it replaced with an after market HU with parking assist device ?

Also , what is the thing below driver's seat ??

Try to get access to a Ross-Tech (HEX+CAN) Cable, which should be able do the job.

Replacing with an aftermarket HU can be done but with a lot of trouble, especially if it is a Chinese one. Some of the problems you will most probably encounter are:

1.) No sound in the Music System because the HU will not be able to turn the Amp on over the Car CANBUS

2.) You will not get the Parktronics on your OPS unless you upgrade the PDC and do some (/quiet) re-wiring

3.) You will not get the Climatronics display unless you upgrade your Climatronics

If you are referring to the Passenger's Seat, it is the Music System (Amplifier)

Edit: One more major problem with a Chinese HU:

4.) Battery Power drain issue, so you will need to do some re-wiring and probably some electronic gadgetry too!!!

Just one more thing, the Audience combined with the stock 12-way speaker upgraded system in your car is an amazing one, if you are looking for some good sound upgrade, you will need to replace this amp with some good one which can drive these speakers as the stock one does.

I would love to have a better amp , the only thing is that i am not sure if that is the root cause of my issue . I also located parktronic control unit ( behind gas tank lid ) , will play with it tomorrow and yeah that tick tick sound does come from the sensor , it seems issue is with the control unit .

The error could also be with the "Warning Buzzer", or faulty wires, or ... etc. If you can locate it manually, well and good, else use of VCDS is warranted.

<p>Got it fixed for 3 Gs . Wiring of parktronic and amplifier were screwed up . Garage mechanic told me that there was water on amp . Any idea how did it go there ? I never get the car washed from inside :p . Another interesting part , parktronic was placed somewhere behind front bumper :o .

Was the water on the amp or below? If it is "on", I totally fail to comprehend how it could get there as the enclosure for the amp is quiet tight and well surrounded by the protective case from all sides. If it was below, the water might have slipped through the bottle holder in the door and seeped through to the area just below it, which is where the Amp is located. That is the same location where a lot of cables run from the front to the rear side of the car, which explains the damaged wires by the liquid.

Surprising to know you found the PDC Controller in a location other than where it is intended to be found!!! Did you retrofit it? Is it a OEM PDC?

I tried asking the mech but he did not give me details . I still dont think it was because of water , all i need to do is open the passenger seat and check how its placed . I dont want to spend so much on some job that rubbish .

About PDC , it shuld be OEM as its integrated with Audience . I am not sure why its there as am the second owner .

Dude , i was checking your post about upgrading your car's music system. I would be glad if you could answer few queries of mine :

1. Can i replace the whole setup ( HU & AMP ) and run it seperately from ECU/ECM ? I assume OEM comes integrated . I want to upgrade the whole system with a touchscreen HU ( USB & Bluetooth ) and a monoblock amp .

2. Can i replace PDC with an after market one which delivers sound only . I dont really care about the display .

3. Any changes that would need VCDS's involvement ?

Thanks .

1.) Yes, you can replace the whole Music Setup without any problem. The HU+AMP is not integrated with the ECU, you meant the CAN Gateway I suppose? Just be aware that your aftermarket system may just not be able to support OEM Climatronic/Parktronic display on its screen. Also, you may need to upgrade the CAN Gateway to avoid the Battery Drain issue.

2.) Why would you want to replace your existing PDC System when it is in working order? Even if you change a HU that does not support OPS, you will still continue to get the beeps from your existing PDC which will work as before, only without display.

3.) None.
