Help with the phone - HTC Desire HD

Featured Replies

Me again,

I've trawled through the (what seems like ) millions of posts regarding twinning yopur phone with the columbus system, but i can'e seem to get mine to work,

Does anyone else have an HTC Deire HD that knows how to to make the handsfree system wotrk?

Or am i onto a long and slippery slope to nothingness?

Thanks again

Lee

What age is your car?

If it is mid 2010 or earlier then you probably have the old Bluetooth box like mine does and wont allow just a simple hands free connection, it has to be an RSAP bluetooth profile, and your Desire HD doesn't have it. There are methods via Rooting your Android and then getting an RSAP app, but I couldn't do it with my Desire, just wouldn't have it at all.

So the way I have managed it is to find one of my old Nokia's, a 6300, and get a PAYG sim for it and leave that permanently in the car, then when I get in the car I simply divert my Desire's calls to the PAYG number and hey presto I get my calls through the car. The menu on Android to get to the Divert all calls is a bit long winded but I found an App which allows you to do a single button press on your desktop to divert calls and then end the divert as I get out of the car. It's called Simple Call Forwarding.

However, having said all of this and your car turns out to be 2011 onwards then I know not why your phone doesn't connect as it should have the newer bluetooth box lol.

I have paired my HTC desire hd to 2012 elegance with no issues , paired first time .

It's a 59 plate so I assume that it's a non starter for the htc then!

Any idea if I can update the Bluetooth unit on the car so the htc works without having to divert calls to another phone?

See the sticky post on the Superb 2 forum - rSAP to HFP Success.

It's a very comprehensive guide of how to change the BT unit to a one that will work with all phones.

Al.

When I got my car in November 2010 I had a HTC desireHD and it linked on bluetooth with no problems but you can only get standard bluetooth not the Rsap. the phone needs to be on discover and just follow the manual. It worked very well until I changed it for a Galaxy S2 which worked on the Rsap until it upgraded to the new Android version and will now only operate on Bluetooth!
