Help With SatNav, please

Featured Replies

My former car, Octavia Elegance 2004, was purchased by a friend, who now asks what can be done to upgrade firmware, maps, etc. Whilst I've become familiar with the Columbus RNS510 in my current Superb II, what I know about the unit fitted to the Octy could be written on a pin head with a lavvy brush, so I'm hoping for some guidance, please.

Here are current pics that may assist ID, showing the info screen, navigation input screen and radio screen:

Is it possible to upgrade the firmware and - if yes - to what, from where?

The map disk is referred to as a CD, but surely it must be a DVD, due to the amount of data?

Does anyone know what the latest maps version that will work with this unit is, please?

TIA! :)

This is the MFD2, map disks are indeed standard CD and not DVD. Skoda never used the DVD version of this headunit.

Firmware wise, there are no updates.

Map wise, they use the Blaupunkt DX format CDROMS (not DVD) and they are still supported meaning you can get current maps. They are sold by country with each CD holding a country.

I have the DX unit in my Mk 1 octy that i updated a MAP CD when i got car in 2005 to latest MAPs, I did this again in 2008 but now latest MAPs are over £100 this is not money well spent now and as you can get a DVD player with GPS from China and like for few hundred that can be upgraded I am starting to look at different units now.
