Will a 4 litre tub of oil do or will i need a 5 litre?

It should be listed in the manual, you'll need 4.6 litres.

Ive bought some last week and seems fine, there are a few threds where people rate it,

its c3 so is fine

But does it meet VAG's specific specifications?

It needs to have VW 505.00 or VW 507.00 on the container.

Low SAPS oils suitable for Euro 4 engines and almost all VAG diesel engines from 2000 onwards with extended service intervals, unitary injector pumps and also Pumpe-Düse ("PD") engines. Excludes V10, R5 engines and VW Commercial vehicles without fitted DPF (diesel particulate filters) – these must use a 506 01 specification oil.

these are diesel oils??

this oil is vw rated 504 507

its also has the same ACEA c3 rating as the asda oil

The ASDA oil is fine ive had many a battle on here over it lol, it isnt stamped with VW approval simply because it has not been presented to them for it. As the gentleman said its C3 and that is the recomended oil.

It is 4.6 litre on the EA888 engines in the TSI VRS but I am not certain it is the same in the EA113 engine in the TFSI VRS but I would have throught 5 litres will do it.

I supply my oil as I get it on my fuel card so only costs me about £8 a litre, or £4 a litre if I can "optimise" the tax, so cheaper for me to supply. Garage should be able to use a bit of their "Quantum" VW oil if they did not have enough and charge you for the little bit more they use.

I used the excellent Savilles Garage at Kiddermister and they put the 0.4 litres back in the car in its bottle so I can see they used the exact amount of oil etc.
