Cost of fitting parking sensors

Featured Replies

Have had a look at an Octavia, swbo is put off the Octavia as she cannot see much out the rear window and would fear parking it.

How much would it cost to have parking sensors fitted to a Octavia I ?

Many thanks.

Why don't you get a Reverse Camera, i got mines from ebay and hooked it up too my headunit and works rather well

Thanks never thought of that, would this link up to a standard Octavia CD/radio? Or would I need to get a new head unit.

What head unit do you have.

Cost of normal aftermarket sensors - quite reasonable - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230405599727?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm570.l2736%26_nkw%3D230405599727%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1

Cost of courage to drill your bumper - priceless :giggle:

Only joking, fitted them on my VRS in a couple of hours - just spend time measuring, then measuring, and then measuring again just to make sure before you drill.

Hope it helps

Fitting reversing sensors is very easy. Most kits come with all the parts and a hole cutter.

Measuring takes the longest time to be honest. Did mine in approx 40 min. You only need to find a earth and then hook power to reversing light wire. Then wire up sensors and small speaker that you fit under rear parcel shelf brackets and job done

my reverse camera cost £10 from ebay some minor cutting of the plastic surround to fit it properly into the numberplate light socket, i alreadys had a ripspeed dv720 which cost £150 purchased from halfords, to me it's more handy than sensors as i use it for reversing upto my trailer ect... just depends really on what you wanna use it for, plus i already had a reverse parking sensor fitted (towbar) :D

Hi everyone

Got quotes from £300 to £400 for supply and fit of parking sensors from Skoda dealers. One Skoda dealer advised that the Mark I had also a parking display on the radio if parking sensors were factory fitted, not sure if that is true?

I hahe OEM parking sensors(factory fitted)...and no display on the radio

Just the beeping

Most decent car audio dealers can supply and fit colour coded sensors from around £150 upwards (type dependant)

Hope this helps

Thanks it does, that's what I thought. Couldn't see that a display on the sympothy radio would be that great anyway :giggle:

Thanks another avenue for more to consider re parking sensors.

£150? Where are you based? Buy some sensors from eBay for £13 and I'll help you install them, £150 is a joke!!

+1 agreed, even if you are not confident to drill holes, a local body shop would do the holes for less, then it is just sight the unit, fit the sensors in the holes and feed wires through rear panel grommiet, plug them in the main unit. you then just need a reverse lamp live and an earth by the rear light (very simple) and lastly stick the speaker under the rear shelf support.
