Do i need VAG COM after remap???

Featured Replies

Hi, i am from india and am planning to send my ECU to the UK to be remapped by Jabba or Revo. Can someone tell me once i get it back, whether i can just plug it back in and run the car. Or will i have to get something changed using VAGCOM? What i mean to say is that if the ECU is removed and plugged back in, will i see some fault codes? Or it should be fine?

Also, i think the only people who have VAGCOM in india is the skoda dealer here. So do i need to get VAGCOM personally?

If the ECU is from your car and you intend to keep the car off the road whilst the ECU is being remapped and don't turn on te ignition then you won't get any error codes. However if you intend using a spare ECU then it will need recoding to the car using vagcom or the dealer diagnostics tool.

Due to the fuel problem you have It would be a good idea to have a copy of vagcom to allow you to check for any timing issues once remapped as these won't be obvious when driving but could cause serious damage in the long term.
