Fabia VRS remap please help!

Featured Replies

So ive got a standard, 60k, 2004 Fabia vrs and plan to have it remapped in January. These threads seem to be a maze and i am well out of my depth.

I was interested in going to AMD as they are offering a Milltek cat-back and remap with dyno before and after for £518ish.

But after reading through a few threads the opinions are so varied and dispersed i dont know what to think!

I'm aiming for a comfortable stage 1 tune with maybe 180 bhp and as close to 300 lb-ft as possible.

Please can somebody tell me the difference between a £50 map and a £400 map?!

And is the milltek a good choice? are there better out there?

Thanks.

  • Shark remap by post (STS) that is all.

  • if you're just after a generic map on an otherwise standard car, unless you're writing the code yourself, why should it cost a packet to upload software to the ECU?

  • give me a shout i can travel to you shark performance dealer

The difference is huge - at the £50 end ridiculous fuel and boost curves, smoke/ emissions problems, transmission stress.

The miltek is good but won't add much power - I would spend my money on a egr delete.

180bhp is not possible without a front mounted intercooler - see forge website.

Thanks for the response. A follow up question then, would amd's remap be custom to my engine or are they simly going to upload a map just like everyone else? Is there a difference between an amd map and persay a shark map. am i paying the extra for the dyno only?

regards Maz.

I understand Mikko is no longer around at Shark so not sure who is writing their maps.

You need to ask AMD's if they remap your car live on the dyno and if you can watch/ video this

Really, how do you understand that? He's sat right next to me, and I just asked, he has no plans to leave.

While we're on topic of remaps and Fabias, we are offering our Stage 1 software out at a staggering £149 inc VAT for the next 56 MINUTES! Call us on 01623 332233 if anyone is interested in booking.

Hi John,

Just as Ben said. I'm still here, and have no plans to go anywhere either. I wonder where you heard that from.

Who was the imposter that I spoke to when I was there last week then? Gotta love the net and forum rumours!

From the experience of someones thats now spent his own money on mutliple Superchips, Jabba, Celtic and Revo maps... Id never buy anything else other than a Shark Performance remap given my experience over the last 30,000 miles with it on the car. :)

wasn't a forum rumour - I still stand corrected

Think a few peeps need to calm down! Its Christmas. He only stated what he thought... its been cleared up. No problemo.

Its Christmas, so Ben lets me out of my cave for an extra 30 minutes a day!

Again, just so its completely clear, I haven't left, nor have I any intention to leave :)

For Christmas? Now thats dedication for you!

Lol you prob get confused he hasn't left he just likes airports lol

back on topic of remappers...

I have a blacksmoke.co.uk remap on my PD100 fabia with 155000 miles on the clock on original turbo, a great remap! did think about changing up to a map done on a RR and then thought whats the point when this map feels perfect to me and no black smoke and i wanted a blacksmoke.co.uk remap on my fabia vrs se but he did not do a remap for the BLT engine Andrew is a great guy and i could not fault his service in any way!

Im in contact with W8 performance at the moment for a shark remap on my Octavia vrs and im looking forward to see what its like from what i have heard shark performance are great too and i have heard people say Ben at shark is the same and always wants to help only wish shark performance HQ was closer so i could get on their rollers and see what i get maybe when i go stage 2 i will travel up :)

Egr delete isnt really needed until your running big power and the mapper can just turn it off, without you 'deleting it'. Id personally go for a decat, as it frees the car up alot more in my experience.

Also you can run more than 180bhp with smic, mine ran 186 on my local rollers about a month ago on a jabba stage 1 map and ran 190 on their rollers before i bought the car. So that is more than possible. Ok my turbo grenaded itself but thats another story.

Hi,

I guess we are thinking about 'safe'ish' upgrades in terms of the turbo etc.

You can run high power with a smic but on a hot day the fuelling will pull back.

EGR delete/ off makes the car smoother to drive and mine picks up a little earlier.

More information is needed in terms of the service history, cambelt change etc.

Please advise what you know.

Best wishes

http://www.campbellsofdeal.co.uk/cars-for-sale.cfm?id=6303

dont tell you to much really but i can always ring them and find out what and where its had done . looks in good nick but im always worried more on the mechanics than the cosmetics lol

right just phoned they said all service history is skoda main dealer not a stamp or anything missed, she was a district nurse supposedly and a long time customer of there s i.e the 99k , cambelt done last year and its been fully serviced etc looks and sounds like a well looked after car. what you think guys? do love ity in silver as well lol

I would go for a conservative map from a reputable company such as Jabbasport, Shark, Oscarli etc.
