Drivers door clicking when opening or shutting -annoying!

Featured Replies

Good afternoon everyone

Over the last few days my drivers door has been clicking when in open or shut it., it sounds like it comes from the black slider thing (technical term) that enables the door to stop at certain points. I tried putting some lithium grease on it today but the bugger still clicks quite loud! :-( my old silverline Fab did it too.

Any ideas or experience?

Thanks as always!

On the door where it connects to the opening mechanism, there is a screw /bolt that is tightened with an allen key. Try tightening if it's loose.

Thanks will try that!

Is it your central locking clicking as I had a broken wire where the rubber cover connects door to body of the car, soldered it up good as new.....

That black thing is sometimes called the checker arm or door strap. You should be able to tighten it with a star drive or Allen key. Maybe worth putting a little drop of loctite on the thread to keep it from happening again

2 years I've spent with the same annoying clicky noise....since it was the NSR door, I tried to avoid using it. All because of a simple small screw!
