Fabia vrs down on bhp..

Featured Replies

Hello all, just I would post up to get some answers before I start spending a fortune on the car.

Started last year, shark was doing a promo on remaps so had one stage one map. I heard a lot about shark performance on how good they was. Tbh dint think the it was good but then they was doing a rr day at shark performance so had it on the rollers to see how many ponys I had under the bonnet. It was down on power it made 151.7bhp Ben couldn't put his finger on it at the time as it was very busy. The clutch and turbo was fine too but low on mpg. So I change the maf sensor with a genuine one from tps. Here is the map.

A year goes by, the car is running well. But the car this has had fitted a full milltek turbo back plus decat. Plus before a pd160 intake green cotton filter egr delete and the little flap on the slam panel removed. Got it on the rollers again this year at shark performance nearly a year to the date and it was down on power again this time it made 152.2bhp.

Can anyone come up with some answers for me as it is down on bhp about 20-25bhp

Could it be the black vacuum box

A boost leak somewhere (doesn't smoke that much tho tbh)

Or the software

Also Ive tried taking off the map plug to see if the revs idle sounds different but it don't.

Cheers

Have you tried changing the MAF sensor mate? I've read about them sometimes causing the symptoms you describe.

Plus, if the decat was fitted after the car was mapped, a tweak might be required. Apparently it can cause turbo overspool which can eventually lead to expensive turbo problems.

Yes buddy I changed it last year just after the first rolling road. But the car was down on power the first time. And the decat was fitted last week but it was still down on power the second time. Nearly made the same figures on both runs, been told it should been about 175-180bhp.

Have you had it checked for a boost leak? My silver one ran 162bhp with a boost leak when I first got it, so that might be the problem. Be worth having it checked if you haven't already.

If I were you I'd call Shark & book it in for them to have a look at. They have a leak test set too.

Hope you get it sorted.

I had a quick checked when underneath the car fitting the exhaust all seemed ok. But if you look at the graph where it flaters out that's where the problem is. it's getting air in and out quickly. Just wanted to know if they was anything I could do before booking it into a garage or shark.

Get some logs done, that'll point you in the right direction quicker, possibly a boost issue

180bhp is too much on standard turbo unless you want it to go bang m8 . . 170 would be more like it. .

as for decat . . mine made no difference either man. . just helps the turbo spool quicker, needs a map to compensate for it chucking gasses out quicker. . :-)

Yes but like I said before the car is down on power last year

Need logs to see what the car is doing.

Log 3 for MAF, 11 for boost, 8 for fueling request, 1 for actual fueling.

All in 4th from 2k to are far as you can. Post here or email me them.
Oh and do each seperate to get the best sampling rate.

Ant your car is too low to go fast anyway ;)

Have you checked over all of your boost pipes thoroughly? I know mine looked fine, but would actually open up under load leaking boost here there and everywhere.

it was a pain to get it on the rollers, must have been messing around for 15minutes.

Did you do a remap after you fitted all this?

Normal issues have been mentioned, get your timming checked as this was a big problem with clio 182's when i had one, timming slightly out then down on power.

Quick update on this got the car booked into shark today for some data logs, timing and boost leak test.

Hope it gets sorted mate, must be frustrating.

Been to shark, everything seem to be working ok apart from the turbo is carb'd up and its only letting it run 1.1bar as stock is 1.35bar. Time for the turbo to be cleaned. But it made 165.9bhp and 315 ft. Lbs (427nm) so not bad just smokes alittle now when you put the foot down.
