Next generation Fabia - when is it scheduled for ?

Featured Replies

Am currently tempted by the 1.6 crdi 105 and with the no VAT offer at the moment it's seems an attractive proposition. However the present model has been about since 2007 and I presume that a new generation is on the near horizon.

As I have a couple of personal reservations about the 1.6 - firstly the long gearing in 5th which means that you can't really use is at anything less than 50 mph, and then the DPF issue - then I am thinking (??) that it maybe better to wait for the next generation given that technology has moved on considerably in the past 5/6 years.

Any comments welcomed.

The fabia mk2 has been out since 2007, yes. However it was facelifted in 2010. The new line of engines came along with the facelift.

2007-2010 the 1.9pd 105 was used, 2010 onwards the 1.6cr 105 came along.

So the 1.6 diesel engine isnt actually 7 years old.

It looks as if it Fabia mk 3 may turn out to be a big disappointment. Based on Skoda Rapid/Polo chassis?? Could be boring, dull and a backward step in comfort.

It may be VW's plan to return Skoda to the budget bracket (not price wise though)

I must say when the new Octavia was launched  I was "wowwww....errr.....umm - looks sort of nice from some angles....". Now its firmly "Hmmm....thats a new Octavia....or is it one of them Rapids?....wait a minute....no I think its an Octavia....I think that rear end corporate fold/crash damage looks worse than ever"

Is it just me or does the new Octavia look small??? The mk2 FL catches my attention far more.

it is scheduled to be unveiled at the October paris motor show

at which point we will see the actual vehicle and find out basic specs etc

I am watching with interest as my GLII is up for renewal dec 2015 so realistically I am looking from January to start figuring out fabia mk3 or rapid and which engine
