NEW BOY OLD VRS

Featured Replies

Alright guys,

Due to a move from Edinburgh (Penicuik if your being technical) to Glasgow but still working in Edinburgh has forced me to sell my TT and get something boring..... Then i remembered that time i had a go of my mates MK1 vrs and thought not all hope is lost! Paid a deposit for red 04 plate with 58k on the clock and full Skoda service history and all going well should pick it up on Monday. Would of got it this weekend but the garage are putting a years MOT full service and sorting a bit lacquer peel on the back bumper. Seems really clean and when i get it i will put some photos up.

If there’s anything anyone feels i should look out for before i buy it please please please let me know because i don’t want to buy a dog that just so happens to look good!

Cheers Guys

Darren

At that mileage it will need the timing kit and water pump changed, if it already hasn't been done. Check the turbo pulls fine and there's no obvious boost leaks etc. Also make sure the clutch/flywheel are in good health. Other than that it should be fine! :D

Cheers Kiddy,

Gonna go to the garage and go over it head to toe. I know the age/miles are good and it will have age related wear but the timing belt/water pump was on my mind so if it hasn’t been done i want a chunk off the price (uncle is a ferrari lambo audi specialist) and will have it done myself just for piece of mind. Plus i have access to a VAGCOM so that will be handy. The guy seemed decent and he has some really good online reviews so im feeling pretty confident.

Another question, what is the sound system like?? Im not into big mental sub Halfords stuff but I just wondered what the standard system was like???

Cheers

The Furby vRS kit is ok,

However, I swapped the std h/u for a Sony h/u that would allow MP3's from a usb stick & personally found the speakers were actaully very good, with a better h/u.

If youre going to tinker then swap H/U 1st, then just do the speakers as you feel need doing.

Hello Darren and welcome along
