Knocking help!

Featured Replies

I think you need shorter DL with coilovers?? I did with my FK's as something rubbing on the drive shaft i think

I changed the drop links, polybushed the arb and console bushes and there is still a knocking, i was kinda hoping it was going to be one of them..

I would def go top mount bearings, I dont think you have to change the mounts only the bearings but for sake of a tenner i changed the mounts too

Yeah probs better idea changing them both at same time.

Where them prices at your local shop? I will try bullseye or car care in Thorne, can't see them being that cheap at the dealer?

Think I'm jus gunna Change the top mounts and bearings, ball joints and engine mounts, if it still does it I'm getting rid of the car ha ha.

Don't have any noises when turning the wheel tho so maybe not the top mounts?

Just had the mot done with no advisories so I'm not too worried :)

That's all good then, going to have a look at mine tomorrow.

Can you remember how much all the mounts were?

Was yours driver or passenger side that the noise was coming from?

Was gunna have a look at ball joint tomorrow, well I still might jus to see if it's no good.

it was a wile ago so im not 100% i think mine was passenger too, after i rebuilt the one side of the car i gave in and gave it to my mate who works in his dads garage, he showed me the old mount and it was well and truely gone. they ended up doing all of them for me, think i paid something like £300 including fitting but aparently the engine mount by the cambelt is the most £££.

Its a shame as the week i fixed it i sold the car and kept in contact with the guy and he has not had to do anything to the car since LOL

I bet its engine mounts mate, it is common, a fair few of them failed in warranty and faught with skoda to replace them but not many people live to tell the tale...... I mean like to tell the tale. :)

Edit:

After all the trying to find out what the knocking was I found the problem

Tightened it up, knocking gone :)
