Octavia II estate kerbweight

Featured Replies

Hi,

Can somebody please confirm the kerbweight of a 2008 Octavia II 2.0TDI DSG Estate?

I have seen a couple of different figures on the net, but I would like to know what figure is actually stated in the handbook.

Even better, if someone has the above model and can tell me what Mass in Service is stated on the V5 logbook, that would be great.

Thanks in advance for any help! I am about to buy one of these for towing a caravan, so it's important that I know what the kerbweight is.

My 2006 2.0TDI DSG Estate has a mass in service of 1554kg.

2008 model may well be slightly different and differing trim levels have different Mass in service figures as well. (Mines a L & K)

I have the retail price list and Techical specification 1st July - 30th September 2007

That lists the 2.0 TDI DSG kerb weight at 1,560kg

I have a 2008 2.0TDI manual and towing 1,300kg is poor - No grip and lots of bounce from the saggy back end. If you are toeing up to the limits and have stuff in your boot you may need spring assisters.

I tow with another car now

Ok, thanks for the info, guys. The Caravan Club and Autotrader both say 1575kg for the DSG estate which is more or less in line with those figures.

What weight is your van?

What weight is your van?

Currently 1150kg, but looking at changing to something like 1350kg soon. I know about the 85% rule - I am not looking for advice on weight matching, I just want to know what the kerbweight of the car is.

This site might help http://www.whattowcar.com/

I have looked at all the websites - I want the figures from someone who actually has the documents in front of them.

Is it not marked on the car? There is a plate on the B post, low down, on the passengerside, once you open the door.

Doesn't matter what you find on the Net, what's written on the car is what counts.

No, kerbweight is never on the plate, only gross weight, max train weight and axle weights.

Seems I jumped in there with both feet without knowing what I was talking about. The "Mass in Service" is on the V5 and you obviously don't have that yet! :)So I have looked up the kerbweights on the brochure for 2008 and 2009 (.pdf files). Hope they help till someone with the right car comes along.PM if you want copies.2009Kerb weight* kg (lbs) 1,430 (3,153)Total weight* kg 2,030Payload* kg 600Max roof load kg 75 Towing unbraked max kg 650 Towing braked max kg 1,4002008:Kerb weight* kg (lbs) 1,575 (3,472)Total weight* kg 2,045Payload* kg 470Max roof load kg 75 Towing unbraked max kg 650
