Briskoda friends help, how do I know if my car has had its DPF removed

Featured Replies

Hi, I've had my Octavia a few months now and it's a vRS 170 PD TDi. It seems very smoky and doesn't sound like a diesel on tick over out the exhaust if that makes an sense. How do I know of it has a DPF or not? The little light comes on the dash and goes off again when you start it. Thanks

If there is any smoke out of the exhaust then there is no DPF.

A DPF equipped PD170 doesn't smoke at all.

In fact during my recent MOT the car scored 0.0 on the soot test.

Your vRS has had it's DPF removed.

It'll have either had the DPF opened, gutted and welded back up or it'll have had it removed completely and replaced with a pipe.

The only real way to tell is get the car jacked up or better still up on some ramps, it's tucked up right at the back of the engine.

Think yourself lucky, a DPF removal and remap is around £500.
