Even bigger brakes--300mm

Featured Replies

Tried to put this in 257mm vent thread but can`t seem to do it.

The 260 disc looks a bit lost in 17`s so did a bit of messing.

Mondeo 3 calipers bolt straight up, have a 57mm piston and sit nicely round Grand Scenic 300mm discs with just 1mm taken from the centre bore.

Needs small spacer between lugs and carriers to centralise. Measured it up imagining that, the studs thru, face plate, would be the same thickness as the 260--its thicker. Gives wider track tho. Will see if the 205/50`s clear the rolled arches later.

Fitted to fun to test as the 15" rims cleared the caliper.

Work OK .

Piston is 59mm its the seal thats 57mm. Can get after market seal kit from brakes international as ford don`t list one

Have you got aany photos? I'm thinking of bigger brakes, once I have chased the tin worm out of my sills! I run 15 inch bmw mini steels, do you recon this set up would fit under them?

pm me your email will send one---don`t post pics.

not sure about the fit see if can find an old mondeo caliper and try it

You'll need a new sticker for the back too!........ ;)

Yes, this setup fits on your rims.

Rolo, does this set up give much improvement over standard?

Only necessary with more power really.

It is an improvement, can`t really quantify it.

I've have just put this set up on my felicia, yet to try them mind. They will fit under 15" wheels, mine need a 10mm spacer to clear the caliper.

I'm sure a 280mm setup could be done just the same, mondeo mk2 v6 caliper with 280mm renault scenic disc.

^^ that's what I did, mondeo v6 caliper and a 280mm disc from a golf g60.

do those grand scenic discs fit on without having to modify the spigot or centre bore of the disc?

The centre bore on the scenic disc is 61mm so gave them to my mate who has a lathe and he made them 62mm. Even the little hole lines up to hold the disc on.

I still on the old skool 256mm vented lol nice to know I can go bigger and better. Would look better behind 16s just need some nice weather to fix the funs tin worm....

I should have put in my first post they fit behind 15" wheels with a spacer and caliper shave.

Or they would fit with a thicker spacer but i didn't want the wheels poking out

How thick is the spacer? I've kinda guessed 3mm, as that's the spacer you need on an actual mk1 mondeo to upgrade to mk 3 brakes (and mk1 calipers fit without a spacer on felicia).

I'd like to be sure before I start anything!!

Thanks

It's about 3mm or 4mm mate can't remember off the top of my head.
