Hello good people

Hi everyone. my names mike and i've just joined. i don't actually own a skoda yet but looking to buy one one i get back from Afghan which is why i've joined the forum. i've been lurking for a while and it seems like a really great community.

I currently drive a Vauxhall vectra 1.9cdti on a 56 plate. it's ok but i only bought it for something economical. even though it's remapped i dont really feel it sets the world alight with it's performance.

i am looking at buying an octavia 2 VRS. i'm a mechanic in the army so handy with the spanners and can do most big jobs etc. i was looking at spending around the 6k mark. a lot seem to have high mileage but doing research on here, that doesn't seem to bother me and it appears i just need one with service history. i also do a lot of detailing so if the paint is a bit dodgy that doesn't bother me either.

What are people opinions on these cars (the petrol version by the way)? i still want to maintain practicality of the vectra but with better performance and tuning potential.

Only down side is that i don't finish my tour until the start of next month and there are some great cars in the for sale section on here that i would love to see still available when i get back. I have my eye on one but it seems a great price and has the spec i want but it will probably be sold by the time i get back!

Great site guys. keep up the good work.

Hello MD :hi:

Are you sure you're in the army? Only I thought everything in the army ran on diesel, so it's a surprise you're interested in the other stuff :giggle:
