Daughters 1st KA

Featured Replies

My eldest passed her test back in June so we have been keeping an eye on car prices.Anyway luck would have one going at my wife's work , 2 owners( original the owners Dad, ) A Ford KA 52 plate done 53000 miles. A couple of dents which will be pulled out, paint red not pink but no wax on it. Full service history but only one key. Got a new key cut and coded, £50, some mats and wiper blades all round from Eurocarparts with the Briskoda discount. The Interior was the worst I have ever seen, a non smoker but her kids had eaten crisps biscuits you name it in there and she had split milk still congealed in there. So pics of the car before, I had to rush, Olivia my daughter had seen the car but she is back from uni later today and I want to pick her up in it and surprise her with the improvements . So did this last night, 500w floodlights so can see very well and new it would be raining all day . so before 2012-09-19185021_zps220f06f0.jpg

Then shampooed with Meguiars gold class and towelled dry, Gtechniq p1 polish applied with applicator, too late in night now to use the rotary( will fettle more later)

Then applied Meguiars Gold class paste wax, Autoglym glass cleaner on the windows inside and out, then rain x ,Meguires Tyre shine on the plastic bumpers and tyres, plastics inside with Autoglym plastic and rubber care , so results here

I also painted the wheels with Hammerite black smooth . New mats going in later when they arrive, new wheel trims going on then as well

will add the picture when they arrive, so not bad for a £400 quid car!!

Looking good but your going to have to keep at that clean now :giggle:

I hope she appreciated all your work.

WOW that's not bad for £400

update spent another5 hours on it today, was not happy with the sand in the interior, so I took the seats out to really get to the nooks and crannies 2012-09-20143519_zps88988fa8.jpg

Wheel trims on now

Its always satisfying to see a bit of hard work and elbow grease, along with a new set of wheel trims add value to that car.

Must say the new trims look a lot better too!

First KA? Are you implying she'll have more than one? :giggle:

Good transformation though, looks tidy, especially since these are normally more rust than metal!

Looks great Alan

Shall I bring my DA polisher round tomorrow?

Well had the brakes checked, needed New front discs and pads, and changed the brake fluid, much better now, but £180 is a good price for my daughters safety, still good all in all, Machine polished and waxed this afternoon, changed all rear bulbs,( brake light was out) so the originals had gone like phillips silver-vision ! they are all much brighter now.Got a new washer reservoir cap as there was not one on , thinking of new Ford badges as the originals( gone chrome ) let it down a bit, more pics

Yes she could not believe the Transformation , she has taken it back to Leeds now, the other daughter rang at 2 am drunk saying she has smashed her screen on her phone, so paid for her to send it off like I did my Tom Tom, oh well , could not deny her when I had bought her sister mats, wheel trims and wiper blades

Get the sills and the first two inch up the body rubbed back and painted with decent paint as they have a horrible tendency to rust there,

Sister had one as her first car and had it three years and never missed a beat apart from front lower arm bushs every mot

Only rust is around the petrol cap , which I will do next week when I see her again, the reason I did not attend to that and the badges straight away as it will be parked outside student housing so don't want to look perfect right away

Have you ordered the pink seat covers yet?

Yes seen two sets similar price but one in south wales and the other in Essex, so to far or too much in postage , going to keep looking 40 quid for tatty cloth ones.

I could have put it aside for you, until our paths cross.

Or spread the word for a cross country Brisky parts rally. :D

Looks like I might get a full leather ( black with blue inserts for £50 ) had my car mot today,( sailed through) and it had bent valves so owner is scrapping it.

Well got the leather interiour and its in , minus the door cards, she is on Teacher training so did not have time to fit those as well as she had to head back to Leeds , and it was dark. The flash makes them more vibrant, more subtle in daylight, sett on ebay went for £127.51 so still a bargain 20120927_200700.jpg

Cant believe Ford charged me £9.26 for 13 trim clips for the door cards! will post pics when complete
