Hello, prospective Fabia Estate owner!

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, my wife and I are looking at new Fabia estates as our family wagon.

I'm currently at work but reading up on here, hopefully going for some test drives later on if I can get out of here at a reasonable time.

We have looked at lots of options for our car second hand, new, pcp/pch/lh etc. We both have Clio's at present, my wife an 05 reg 1.4 3 dr auto (Percy) which needs to be replaced with something more spacious as we have a baby due in january and I have a battle scarred Renaultsport 182.

We previously looked at a Focus 1.6 (125ps) Powershift on ford options after deciding we want a new car on a pcp deal. The thought of spending over £300 a month on a Focus 1.6 auto depresses me.

I'll give the 1.2tsi a go, my wife will be using the car mainly and only has an auto license.

I'm really aiming for the VRS though but have a few concerns hence joining up here and heading straight for the oil consumption thread! My other concerns are the '40 profile tyres and my wifes parking!

Anyway sorry for the essay! If we like them I'll be back asking for essential options/spec etc!

Ben

Hi and welcome.

I can't speak for the current Fabia estate, but we have a 2006 tdi Fabia Estate (changed from a Focus) and it has proved to be a great car for us after we had a baby 2 years ago. Tons of boot space and great reliability.

Hope you find one that suits. I like the look of the VRS estate myself!

Cheers, Jonno

Hi and welcome aboard.

We test rode the estate and i loved it with loads of space for my stuff.

I test drove a Fabia VRS yesterday and was very impressed with the car, steering feel was a bit lacking but it rode very well considering the tyre fitment and I was impressed by the engine and gearbox. The boot was pretty big too for a hatch, unfortunately an estate or 1.2tsi dsg were not available to be tested but I had a look around one on the forecourt and I think it's plenty big enough. My wife needs to test one now though and I'm hoping she likes the VRS as much as I did!

The vat free promotion running at the moment is great value, I'm sure we could stretch to an Octavia VRS estate if my wife wants more space or also a well specced Yeti. I'm hoping the sensible family wagon doesn't have to be too grown up!

You might also consider a Roomster 1.2 tsi 105 DSG, they handle amazingly for there shape & convert to a nice 4 seater easily, the sliding/folding/removable rear seats could work well with push chairs etc?

Marmite shape of course but in the right colour & with the panoramic roof they can be very nice!

Hello and welcome Ben

We have been back to the dealers again (Progress Letchworth) and after driving the 1.2tsi Yeti my wife fell in love with it so we are now the owners of a Candy white Yeti SE 1.2tsi dsg.

I wanted the Fabia VRS estate but mainly for the engine but the Yeti has a good spec and was the more practical car. The 1.2 was also a lot more tractable than I'd presumed even though it has just 23miles on the clock.

The car was in the showroom when I visited saturday and had only been in for a few days prior. It had to be registered to the dealers for them to get it in so we will be the 2nd owners so it is like a new pre registered car so we have got a good deal we think 2.5k under list plus top money for our px. Picking it up sunday as it doesn't have a reg yet!
