New vRS and not happy with the wheels :-(

Featured Replies

The car itself is great, I had to get one after driving the wires, although I asked for either black or Dark Chrome alloys, took delivery of the car Friday and noticed that the wheels are all black, not like the brochure with the polished edge around the rim. Now to me the wheels look very bland as they blend in with the tyres too much.

Been to the dealers today to see what they can sort as I said if I'd known the wheels were all black I wouldn't have ordered them.

All I want is what's shown in the brochure ! :wall:

Anyone else got wheels like these ? have Skoda changed the spec of these wheels ?

It wouldn't surprise me if they have as their brochure and website still say that the vRS has front fog lights, I'm still trying to find mine :giggle:

Are you sure it is ' Gigaro Black alloys' that are on,

and not 'Black Trinity Alloys' from a Monte that are fitted.?

some cheeky Monkey done a swap, or not clued up on the correct ones!

?What tyres are fitted to it?

Just as well not to have got Dark Chrome.

But best see that they are 'Gigaro Black' if you paid for that.

As you will see they are or were Metallic Black..

Only the last one is my picture,

the others are off Google Images.

Someone might have different pictures of Gigaro Black Alloys

While the all Black ones look like they have a polished rim, I think that is the light. Ones I have seen in real life are all black. This is why I went for the Dark Chromes, give a nice break from the black, especially as my car is black as well.

Eh?

I can tell you for sure there is a "polished" edge on them as the OP expected, and that is a very nice touch imho, one of the reasons I selected mine. Probably the ones you saw were very dirty or were the "Black Trinity" alloys from a Monte. I repeat there is a silver edge on them and if it's not visible on a brand new car then I'd suspect the same thing as George did. A lame "swap" with Monte alloys.

It would help if the OP posted a pic as well...

Here is a chopped photo of mine, no light game there...

It's deffinately got monte wheels on it!

When my car was having a service there was a vRS outside with monte wheels on it and I asked the service guy why and he said we swapped them lol!

The vRS wheels deffinately have the silver round the outside albeit small but very noticeable

Have you paid £115 extra for 'Gigaro Black',

or have they swapped over from the 'Gigaro Silver' to the 'Trinity' and just not charged extra? ...As a Favour type thing! JMHO but, Plonkers'

george

Is it a brand new car or not? Mine are all black from a previous refurbishment.

Wonder if they have put the wrong alloys on? I remember a guy had a monte and they put vrs alloys on one side and monte ones on the other in the factory.

As above sounds like you've been stitched up and somebody has swapped the vrs wheels for the Monte ones...

I think I remember a thread on here from ages ago where somebody took delivery of their new vrs and it had Monte alloys on one side of the car and vrs rims on the other and the dealer didn't notice the glaring error

if you look at the brochure monty comes with Trinity no options. But the vrs comes with Gigaro standard, silver paint then there are the options Dark crome, Black, White. The black ones have got a crome edge the Dark crome are crome on the front face black around the edge. I think if you have got the monty ones demand the vrs ones at there expence. you can see the differance monty have got a wider gap between the spokes

I reckon they have arived damaged and the dealer swapped them with a monte they had sitting there and were hoppimg youd never notice

The Trinity alloys look different, saw one at the dealers today, they are exactly the same style as my wife's vRS but hers have the polished rim and mine don't, not happy !!

Waiting to see what they come back with tomorrow.

EDIT : And yes I did pay extra for them (£175 option I think), and also yes it is brand new 33miles on the clock on collection.

Sounds strange... Get a pic up If possible...

MOnte alloys aren't black - they're a dark metallic grey. And it;s a different design (slightly).

They haven't forgotten to remove a protective strip? If they do that.

Fair enough, from the ones I had seen they appear all black, but the picture you posted clearly has a polished edge.

Here's the wife's wheels

And heres mine

IMAG0011_zps82f6df05.jpg

And yes I know they need cleaning !!!

Clearly a difference and don't look so good without the polished rim. Have you spoken to the dealer about it?

Quick, albeit a bit immoral, interim solution is to just nick your wife's wheels and see if she notices!

??? What tyres are on 'your' new rims, (Dunlop Sport Maxx or what)

& are they 205/40/17?

is the Rubber over the edge? Any Milled non coated edge below the tyre edge?

** From the picture they look like they would protect the edge better from kerbing.

george

They are VRS Gigaros. They may have changed the painting. May say in the T&Cs parts and options may change without notice

Id nick the ones off the wifes car when she isnt looking ;)

The wife would definitely notice, the dealer is looking into it as I told them if I'd known they were going to be all black I'd have opted for the dark chrome !

Both mine and the wife's are shod in SP Sport Maxx tyres

wonder if there refurbed :)
