VRS brake questions for L&K owner.

Featured Replies

So are the brake discs on the vrs bigger than the L&K also??? Just that i'm just about to buy a set of 17's alloys for the reason of bigger brake discs/ callipers??

Heard talk about R32 brakes - whats the min size wheels for these?

Sorry for nudging in onto this thread - just i need to know.

I believe the discs are bigger on an RS....not sure about an R32 although they have 18'' alloys as standard.

Looking at your signature....is a JBS-Forge 007 DV any different to a Forge 007DV?

Other than the fact JBS fitted it i dont think so, just got that name from another thread(Josh i think)- suppose it makes it sound more customised

Yes. The Octavia is fitted with a range of froint disc sizes, ie:

256x22mm ventilated - 14" wheels

280x22mm ventilated - 15" wheels

288x25mm ventilated - 16" wheels (non-vRS)

312x25mm ventilated - vRS

Yours should be 288x25mm.

Will an upgrade to 312x25 make that much of a difference - or would i be better off going the bigger alloys/ bigger R32 brake(R32 front rotors are 334x32mm?) route to cover later mods to engine (remaps etc etc)

Any reason your going to the R32 brakes or calipers?

Good fluid, competition pads and good discs on the OEM kit is fine for 240 and occasional track use...TaviaRS did 12k track miles on standard calipers and discs sizes without too many complaints. Mind he does drive like a granny only doing sub nine minute laps of the Ring in Germany.

If it's just a generic upgrade then they be as good as any...always hard to work out what people want / need.

Goochie, you have a yes to that fitting...let me split this thread :D

It's laser etched with the JBS logo and is 'tweaked' to JBS' prefered settings. The settings work very well. My requested and actual boost are always very close compared to GaryM's logs when he was running with Forge's recommended settings.

To upgrade to 312mm discs you just need the carriers and discs. Calipers and pads are the same. Carriers are around

Thanks for that Eddy.

How does it compare to Gary's Forge Optimus?
